Springtime!
A false snow report threw salt on the roads a few weeks ago, and therefore my car rested again for a few days. It caused me to get a twitch and and itch and look longingly at all those other new sporty cars driving around freely. I almost lost the faith.....
But then last week, spring finally showed up here in Chicago, so of course I took the kids to the Dairy Queen one evening. My daughter (9), her friend and my son (4) screamed and whooped and giggled and stuck their hands up out of the targa-less top. They gleefully anticipated every corner (even though the engine was cold and I was driving calmly, honey, I promise).....basically, we all had a great time, and I was a child again. There is something about the stiffness, the whomping/whooshing air-cooled engine, the wind in your hair, the feeling of real motion, that just doesn't occur in a minivan or SUV with the windows up and the climate control on. It felt good, and I understand again..... |
From "the other end" of the states
Yep, here in Houston winter is gone, spring is nearly past and the summer is fast approaching. Except for after 9pm the climate control is always on, even in the mornings because of the morning humidity. But those night time topless drives are a dream. Boy I can't wait for November to roll around so the weather will be nice again. |
Houston is too freakin' hot for me. 75 degree dew points and 95 degree ambient temps is really bad. I remember being there once (used to go to JSC down in Clearlake all the time) wondering how in the world people stand the heat and humidity. ...and I'm from Alabama (not the most pleasant place in the world in the summer time)....

Right now is just perfect in mid-MO. Daytime temps in upper 70's to around 80. At night drops down into the 50's.

Yep, spring is here, and I can't get my 951 out of the garage. All of my father's earthly possessions are sitting behind my car.
