Why I Love Honda!
So my Wife take our 2004 Pilot in for its 25,000 mile check up. The service manager tells her the sales manager wants to ask her a few questions regarding our vehicle. She agrees yet is suspicious. He introduces himself and proceeds to ask her how she likes the Pilot and so forth. He then tells her that the demand for these vehicles (used) is so high that he is willing to give her $22,000 for it on the spot. She cordially declined his offer but asked what a new completely loaded with all the bells-n-whistles would hurt us (including navigation and DVD players for the kids as well as running boards - the whole ball of wax so to speak). He says; $32,000! She declines again and drives home.
She calls me up to tell us and I reminded her that we spent $25,000 two years ago for it. So what your telling me is that Honda Pilots depreciated only 12% in 2 years??!! Hmmm, not bad. The guy calls us back and says that if we sell him our Pilot he can get us in a loaded new one for $30,000 now? At this rate, I'm just gonna see if he will call us back and we can do an even trade? (just kidding) Also - check out this link. I got a big kick out of it. It is worth a look. Many of you have already seen it but is is still worth it. www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/honda.php

I bought a brand new 2004 CRV, and I constantly get requests to sell it back to dealerships for $1,500 less than I bought it for. I guess they figure that they can easily sell my car, and as a bonus, I'll buy a new one from them.
I am about to trade it in on a new Honda Fit, so I'll likely only lose ~5-7% for having the car 2 years.

Thanks for nothing Mike. Couldn't you have posted this LAST WEEK???
My g/f just traded her leased 2003 Pilot for a new Infiniti FX 35. She got more than the payoff amount on her lease and got a good deal on the FX, but if I had known that, we could have shopped her car around and done even better. BTW, does anybody know how to get the sales price for a car that went through auction? The dealer said her car would go to auction and I'd like to see how much they get for it.

I'll be looking at the Pilot in August. I'm turning in my fourth Explorer and will go for something with better resale and fuel consumption.
I think we discussed this in another thread. FWIW, I picked up a low mile '99 CRV for $6800 in the fall. I use this car for winter driving......and I love it. Fill it up every 2 weeks for about $25. Can't beat that with a stick. I could probably sell for $9k tomorrow.

Likely a dishonest offer from the dealer. I had the same happen to me several years ago. When the rubber met the road, the actual offer was much less. They try this crap just to lure you in, then try to perform their bull$hit voodoo on you. I have the Ford dealer calling me every 3 months or so to buy my F250 for top dollar. Funny... they can't give away the new ones on the lot.

Very well could be Motion. They are good cars but the deal is a little too good to be real.
