Total BS at the local Starbucks...or not?

I overheard someone say all U.S. currency printed in the 1980s that is still in circulation, has traces of cocaine or some other drug on it.

Really?

Yeah sure.... plus our water supply contains viagra and every pathogen known to man. True, but totally insignificant.

island911 04-19-2006 08:27 PM

Well yeah . . how else do ya tell if it's real, or printed in the mid-east? ;)

BlueSkyJaunte 04-19-2006 08:34 PM

Can't hear you, have a wad of bills shoved up my nose.

vangndy 04-19-2006 08:49 PM

Actually it was documented, closer to 80% though, once one contaminated note goes through a counter, it leaves cocaine on the machine and transfers trace amounts to most of the notes that subsequently pass through it. This came up on a currency collecter's forum i troll at, I'll see if i can find it.

Bizarre - I knew what I heard was too weird to not be true.

trekkor 04-19-2006 09:27 PM

I thought it was mostly $100 bills.

I believe it's nearly 100% of 50s and 100s; lower on other denominations. There's some other stuff there in trace levels that will increase your preference for electronic transactions...

...except what you can buy with it.

I knew there was a reason why I loved the smell of money.:D

airport baggage handlers can tell when a suitcase is loaded with cash. They can smell it. LaGuardia airport in NYC used to be wanted place for baggage handlers to transfer to in the 1970s. They can grab it and it won't be reported missing.

not sure what they can smell?

From the stories I have heard about the Keys and Miami in the 80's I am not suprised at all.

The Police force in the keys along with most politicians and law enforcement in Miami were all on the take back then.

I met a guy who used to sweep up the scraps left behind after an airdrop and would have enough to make some nice spending money. I think he bought a new boat with the procedes from the scraps.

i lived in miami way back. another pilot friend (flew cargo, too..you know where this is going) who owned a home across the street from me was from columbia. on a couple of flights out of bogota, he was asked to put 'an extra package on board' and was rewarded for his troubles..paid cash for his house, two bimmers and a boat..

isnt this the reason the alligators get so huge in the sewers?

Vipergrün 04-20-2006 10:21 AM

Starbucks SUCKS! I avoid them like Walmart...now, back to the program.

singpilot 04-20-2006 10:24 AM

I always try and pay for my latte' with a Vegas Visa ($100 note) at Starbucks.

Of course, so little change comes back it might be easier using plastic.

trekkor 04-20-2006 10:37 AM

I heard that the little metal strip embedded in bills with the $20, $50, $100, etc on them, allows "them" to track the movement of large amounts of money from space.
