Looking for a July U.S. holiday idea
Hi,
Me, my girlfriend and my 4 1/2 year old son have a week off in July and I want to go somewhere really awesome for holiday. We live in Toronto Canada. I'm think of some awesome U.S. national park or something similar. I want to be completely blown away....while still going somewhere where my son can go...i.e. not hiking up Mt. Washington I'd love some advice

A bunch of us went to Saranac Lake, NY (Adirondaks) to spend July 4th with a friend back in college. We had a fantastic long weekend of hiking, camping, boating, water-skiing, etc. And they must have some different fire codes up there in the Adirondaks, as the fireworks show seemed to go off only about 100 feet over our heads. Closer to Toronto than Arizona and California, too.

How about Acadia National Park? Southern Maine would make it reasonable, and the coast shouldn't be too rough.
I live in NE, and it's somewhere I'd really like to go. Kind of tough to argue with this: ![]() ![]() Last edited by yellowline; 04-20-2006 at 05:17 PM.. |

cedar point is a must
![]() www.cedarpoint.com from there you could head south towards cincinatti and hit kings island (another amusement park)......and west virgina area has some cool carverns and such. my favorite spot on the east coast is wilmington north carolina (cape fear), the downtown area is very historic.....the beaches are awesome and it's not super touristy like mertle beach.....there you can tour the uss north carolina (decommisioned battleship), also a nice aquarium..... it's also one of the areas where giant tortises come ashore to lay eggs (springtime). have more info if interested.
