considering that he was hired with the knowledge that he never did radio before, 3.5 months is not enough time. not fair.
|
Please no. They are so much better on XM than they were on the air. I'm not just talking about the filth, which there's actually less of, it's just more real. Like hanging with your friends.
I can't even imgine how they would pull this off. Tone it down for 3 hours and back to the fun for the last two? A guy with a finger on the dump button all the time? The NYC crowd would hear a lot of dead air. Ugggg. One of the best shows on the radio. (I can even listen to the replays while I'm wrenchin on the car in the evening). |

I am looking foward to hearing the real story from Dave soon in another non-radio talk show. |
LOL!! Its been 6 months and its still Sterns spot. Now matter how much you hate him you have to respect that.

O&A Party Rock! Highlander..you a fan? Steve from Yellowstone has to be the best bit invented ever. :) |
i listen to adam too. especially when HS does phony phone calls (hate them) and when the KKK guy is on.
adam is funny as hell, but i think he is dying a slow death too. |

IMO, DLR was screwed before he ever sat in studio. They must've been nutz to think HS fans would stick with it after he left. You can't just step in and fill Stern's seat, no way, no how. Not after all the time he spent there building his empire. At least with O&A, they know exactly what they are getting, and they are only re-airing their XM broadcast so they can pull the plug or bleep the crap out of it at will. Which is what they will most likely do. VaSteve, I like toast ;) |

Same guys that were fired from Radio for endorsing a couple to screw in St. Patricks Catherdral have been hired back. They must be really good to risk a backlash from the Catholic community. I gave DLR a listen when he was on here in West Palm and thought his show was definatly not HS it was different and purposefully so. I thought it would catch on if given time. I'll have to give O&A a listen when they are on too. I mean for a bradcast company to take such a risk offending the Catholics it must be worth it. I tried listening to them about a year ago and did not find them funny. I'll have to try again. |
CBS is under different ownership now. I would think that Clear Channel would be more conservative that Infinity used to be though so this is a surprise to me.
I didn't think that DLR was bad either... But I still had other things to listen too with XM. Mostly ESPN News and occasionaly O&A. They aren't really like Stern. He tries to target the young and hip but in actuality is getting the 50 year old males that think they are young and hip... O&A actually have a young & hip audience base. Its like comparing myself to my dad... the same, but different. ya know? |

You know the weird part about that is, they have gone over that event a number of times and how it went so wrong. They have never mentioned the fact that the guy involved in the stunt died a few years ago. Guess these things have a way of working themselves out. ;) |

Plus I think sponsors would prefer to 35-60 crowd anyway. More spending power. |

The #1 target demographic is Adult Males 25-54. 35-60 is too old to market to no matter what "spending power" you think they possess. Thats just a reality, sorry. Sterns been on the radio for 30+ years and in that time his audience has only gotten older. He was extremely influential in the 90's but its sad to say, his time has passed him by. Too bad Serius didn't recognize that and shows how much they know about the business they leaped into. Today was DLRs last day... also sad, but Serius will probably give him $100 million and his own channel. I hope he doens't end up in some alleyway, facedown with a needle stuck in his arm. |
I was one of the biggest Stern fans for years until they yanked him off my radio. I've had XM for a few years and then they added O & A. I've never heard of them before this, so I had no prior judgement what to expect. They are the best thing on radio bar none. I'm actually ashamed to admit I listened to Stern. Sometimes you have to step back for a while to understand what your witnessing. Thank god he didn't come to XM. I'd have to switch providers. I'm glan their not changing anything with the present lineup. A little less Patrice O'Neal though, I get tired of himself laughing at his own jokes. More Bill Burr.

Stern has caused a 4 million unit surge in sales of Sirius recievers. I cannot speak for the nation only whats around me. You are hard pressed to find one in a store here they are sold out as fast as they come in. Most of the people I know have them and listen to Stern and Bubba. It is not uncommon for s friend to greet me with "did you hear what Stern said, or Bubba said today".
My friends range in age from 19 to 35. They all have Sirius and listened to Stern when he was on Radio and followed to Sirius and we all agree nothing he ever did on radio comes close to what he is diong now. His best material is happening right now. The interviews with the stars are great and very candid. More so then ever before. They seem more at ease, Stern, his sidekicks and the guests all seem to be much more relaxed and not on guard as to what they say. I might be biased against O&E not because of Stern but because of an employee I fired a year ago. He was a rabid O&E fan and he was also the biggest looser I ever had work for me. I had to fire him after 6 months and he lasted 4 more months than he should have. I tried to listen to them when he was working here because he carried on about how funny they were. Maybe I didn't listen long enough I just didn't get it. I am digging Bubba though and Ned is the funniest thing on the radio hands down. I have not laughed too tears in along time and Ned does it. |
... and its STILL Sterns old spot. LOL!
|
Ned's Bible stories are some of the funniest skits I have ever heard.

Patrice is a borderline racist. You can hear it sometimes in the stuff he says. I still think he's really funny and I'd love it sit down for a beer with him. |
Jim, I agree with everything you said. The Ned "When Cowboys Go Homo"
parody is better that anything Dan the Song Parody Man has ever done! Christian. |
