Clam hunting

I got too much vacation time on the books so I'm taking next week off and staying beautiful Pismo beach.
Now if you are not in the know Pismo is the clam capitol of the world so I thinking of doing some calm hunting. Any professional clam hunters here on the board? What kind of bait should I use? What ammo works best?

TIA,
Scott

P.S. I will be off the internet while on vacation so you will have to get by without my useless inane ramblings... I feel your pain.

Marguritas are known locally in Pismo as liquid panty remover!

Thanks Hugh, it has been duely noted...

All the regular suspects must be out driving and/or working on their Porshes.

pismo clam

There are no more Pismo Clams in Pismo. The voracious sea otters ate them all. They eat their body weight or more everyday of shellfish. Crabs, clams, mussels, abalone and sea urchins are devastated where they live. They abide by no size limits or bag limits either! Oh, but they are cute:rolleyes:

red-beard 04-22-2006 07:53 PM

I dispute the claim that I am a sea otter. But I am cute.

M.D. Holloway 04-22-2006 08:08 PM

so the best way to eat a clam is on your back - otter style!

billyboy 04-22-2006 08:22 PM

Bearded clams and pink snappers are often. found in the same area, usually between two long penninsulas.:p

Pismo Beach...isn't that where Bugs Bunny was headed when he took a wrong turn? And the Great Carrot Festival located therein?

I don't understand why they are putting perfectly good penis pumps in the sand like that?

vash 04-24-2006 06:00 AM

anyone know somebody that can teach me how to dive for abalone? i need a new hobby.

sammyg2 04-24-2006 06:24 AM

The secret to abalone is to find one relaxing on a rock and quickly slip one finger between the shell and th rock and see what happens.
The only problm with this method is that you can only catch 10 abalone, after that you run out of fingers ;)

Bugs Bunny's lines were:
"Pismo Beach and all the clams I can eat!"
"Pardon me Mac, but could you direct me to the Coachella Valley and the Great Carrot Festival within?"

I know, No life.
