Need suggestions on hotel near Disney mid-May

We're going to take our 6 year old to Disney (CA) soon. Anyone know of any hotels bargains? Any hotels to avoid? We'd like to be close to the park, but aren't willing to pay double for the convenience of being inside the park.

Check local condo/townhouse rentals. We have rented furnished 2 bedroom condos w/kitchen for less than a hotel.

If you drive in, park at one of the disney hotels (tell them you are getting breakfast) instead of fighting traffic at the main parking.

At that age, my kids loved the character breakfasts.....

Edit...Oops....I was thinking Disneyworld also......

EDIT....SORRY...I see you're going to Disneyland...not Disney World. Maybe someone else can use the tip on Fla

There are many very nice properties in Kissimmee (minutes from Disney). We stayed at Star Island Resort on Avenue of the Stars last year and were very pleased.

Since I'm "in the business" I get special deals but I did find this: http://www.touriststreet.com/star-island-resort.asp

FWIW, I was in a two bedroom with 3 bath (with jacuzzi), kitchen and living room. I'd stay there again.

Are you looking to stay with a shuttle's ride away or are you going to be renting a car/driving here? If you have a car, the Embassy Suites off Kramer/91 Freeway is quite nice about 7-10 minutes from the park with no traffic.

The main parking is quite easy now, park in the Mickey & Friends lot. I bought an Annual Pass about 2 weeks ago and got into the park in about 15 minutes including the tram ride. However, security is tight. They check any and all bags.

Again, if you come to Florida, I'd recommend renting a house/hotel. Theres one outfit (forget name, can get if needed) that has quite a few houses in nice developments, each iwth 3-5 bedrooms, 3 baths, a pool, etc. ALl you have to add is food and beer. The ones I've stayed at have a lake in the middle of the development that has decent fishing as well.

Like 84Porsche, we've stayed at the Embassy Suites - worked well and breakfast was included.

We've also stayed in the park itself; my recollection was that the rates weren't too bad and the convenience of just jumping on the monorail made life easy. Also gave us the ability to go back and hang out for a couple of hours and then head out for the parade and other night time activities.

If you stay at the embassy suites off Kramer, wave as you drive by. It's about 3 blocks from my house

I believe he's going to Disneyland (CA), not Disney World (FL). But the Swan and Dophin are nice, I will agree with that. I'll be staying at the Contemporary at Disney World in about 3 weeks, courtesy of Walt.

The anabella hotle is nice. We stay there for conventions. Very close to Disney, too.
