Tell me about Outlaw 356s
Ever since I first became interested in the Porsche marque years ago, I heard esoteric comments made about the "Outlaw 356s"; I understood this as a reference to some tricked-out and hot rod 356 tubs, but don't really know the story behind it.
What exactly is an Outlaw 356? Why was the term "Outlaw" chosen?

My take is that outlaw 356s have more creative mods...maybe the type 616 engine was yanked in favor of a hot VW type I engine, a 911 engine, a subaru engine...maybe the interior has been gutted with recaros and a cage installed...
etc I could be wrong...

Edit - replicas are not outlaws.

Yep...if you're ever in Orygun, a visit to McMinville, the mecca of 356 outlaws is a must. Bring money...

Outlaws are damn sexy. some of the coolest Porsches ever. It's too bad I'm not independently wealthy.
