US Getting Ready to invade IRAN

I suspect the real reason the oil and gas prices are headed north is that we are preparing to invade Iran, in the very near future. That is about the only valid reason for such a short term runup in prices. Someone knows something and that something means a shortage of oil and gas.

Iran has only weeks, not months to back down, I certainly hope they do so, otherwise we will be changing another regime.

Attack Iran, maybe. Invade? With what?

We have the resources, the troups, another 100K troups, no problem. So don't be ridiculous.

Incorrect.

Iran is a country of 60+ million people, in terrain that makes Iraq look lush.

Clearly, you have no idea of what logistical requirements for an invasion of Iran would consist.

And last, are you willing to kill more than one million people in Iran, for merely developing atomic power?

jorian 04-27-2006 08:32 PM

"We have the resources, the troups, another 100K troups, no problem."

Now all you need is a valid reason... oh wait, didn't need one for Iraq so why bother with Iran.

dd74 04-27-2006 08:32 PM

Gas prices always go up around this time of year - it's nothing new.

Iran? We'll bomb first, then see from there what happens. Another invasion will all but destroy the GOP.

snowman 04-27-2006 08:57 PM

Explain the rise in gas prices then.

We can do very devious things to Iran. Cut off the head and let the serpent wither for a while and then, with the help of others, say Israel, step in to help put things back together

There are only a couple of million to worry about, the rest are stone age people who cannot do anything to anyone.

We have sufficient reason. Iran has stated that they will destroy one of our allies, they will seek to destroy us. If that isn't sufficient then nothing is.

island911 04-27-2006 09:07 PM

fwiw, I believe that the US Govt. stop buying oil for reserves, just a few days ago. --an effort to cool the demand.

tabs 04-27-2006 09:12 PM

Let me see now....Bush is a Born Again Christian and believes in the End Times......So what doeshe care if he destroys the GOP, after all its Armegeddon Time.

Porsche-O-Phile 04-27-2006 09:31 PM

No worries, he'll just draft all the 18-35 y/o males that make less than $100k a year.

snowman 04-27-2006 09:31 PM

Right now its Irans choice. Hope they choose wisely, but don't bet on it.

"Stone age" like a bunch of dudes living in caves? "Stone age" like a bunch of people living off the land in the wilderness? Kind of like. . . um. . . Al Qaeda? Just because they lack first-world indulgences hardly makes them a non-threat. I'd be very concerned about not making any move against Iran an excuse to creat a guerilla war / terrorism war on global proportions. If the mullahs can spin an attack/invasion successfully as a war on Islam then we'll be fighting suicide bombers and similar terrorist tactics for the next 200 years on a scale that'll make living in Israel look like a visit to Club Med.

island911 04-27-2006 09:35 PM

No need to invade. Haven't ya heard? .. .the Saudiis now want the bomb too.

... and why not? They've got the cash.

Aint it great?

M.D. Holloway 04-27-2006 09:36 PM

Their just blowing smoke and rattling sabres - trying to keep face and be the strong country of Islam. I would expect nothing less from them - infact I would wonder why they were not taking an even stronger stand.

jyl 04-27-2006 09:38 PM

We have sufficient military resources to invade Iran, but occupying Iran and Iraq for the long term would exceed our resources.

Invade Iran?......Yeah I have been hearing that

Lets just say that no matter how much gas prices go up, or how many oil barrels are stashed away, or what genius plan the current administration dreams up it would be pure suicide. Literally and politically.

absolutely senseless-

Iran isn't the aggressor here, it's the warmongers within the US government and the Bush'ists. It's the Bush'ists choice, I hope THEY choose wisely.

No, "WE" do not have sufficient resources to invade Iran. It would take at least 300% more troops and the supply trains to keep them fighting for more than 6 hours than were needed by the invasion of Iraq, keeping in mind than unlike Iraq, Iran hasn't had 10 years of constant harassment and inspections, with attendant destruction of their military capability as Iraq had had up to March 2003.

In all likelihood, the invasion would require more than 450,000 ground troops, which in turn would require over 4 million support personel, and there aren't that many available under any circumstances.

1. US invasion of Iraq.
2. China and India having a huge increase in use.
3. US military using fuel, particularly diesel, like it was air.
4. Iraqi oil mostly off the market.
5. Almost all countries attempting to stockpile petroleum now because of number one and the continuing US government caused turmoil.

See how easy that was.

The term "islamofascist" has no meaning.

The association, particularly the Baathists, to Hitler makes the case for the terminology quite clear. The fact that they want world domination, death to Jews, and subjugation of the infidel only strengthens the label.

You are an apologist. You are a Patsy.

stevepaa 04-28-2006 08:56 AM

Islamofascists is another Western term for terrorists of a Muslim background.

What that has to do with Iran is where you are obtuse as always.
