What color garage cabinets?

I am having my garage cabinets installed in 10 days, and need to pick the color.

These are the cabinets that I am having built.

The color options

Light Maple

or White.

Which would you pick? What color would you then paint.

Thanks

I couldn't decide either, then it hit me. The walls, washer and dryer are white. The frig is almond. I painted all the trim, workbench, cabinets almond.

If the garage walls are dark (e.g. unfinished studs) I'd choose a light color for the cabinets to brighten the space. Probably I'd choose the white cabinets, and not paint further (paint later, after I finished the walls).

If the garage walls are bright (e.g. white-painted drywall) I'd choose a darker color for the cabinets to give some variety and show fewer greasy fingerprints, tool marks, dirt, etc. Charcoal gray, perhaps.

Light Maple with tan or cork paint. White is for hospitals and laundry rooms..

Thanks guys, thinking of a light tan and maple cabinets. Will look a little warmer than a stark garage.

I bought the "boxfull o' cabinets" from Lowes. They come in hospital white or laundry white.

The do reflect light to keep things brighter and they're not too hard on the pocketbook. I think all 5 were less than $400.

I'm sure yours will look better than the cabinets in my kitchen.

If your garage is finished (sheetrock) then go with the maple and paint your walls darker. I'll post some picts of my garage in a couple days - I just started painting. Next comes cabinets and then a finish with the floor. Not decided yet on either VCT or epoxy.

I went for white since I can use all the extra light I can get in there.

Any color you can wipe dirt/grease off (or not mind if you don't wipe it off immediately).

It's a garage, not a museum.

My garage is kind of a hospital and there is a washer/dryer. White looks clean and spacious. I think we all could use more a cleaner more spacious garage. Got to go, due in surgery.;)

Mine is more like an ER or a field hosiptal tent. Broken stuff everywhere, tools and fluids on the floor. I'm lucky I get to clean it up before the next thing breaks.
