Especially since my devious plan to shoot over there this morning was foiled.

I set my alarm clock wrong and was awaken to the sounds of the 2 y/o yelling he had pooped his diaper.

We decided yesterday to get an early start this morning so I am getting ready to make breakfast instead.

I am doing my best to get over there this afternoon/evening.

I may be working Saturday, but will not know until tomorrow.
Plus, the 911 needs brakes and an ignition coil.

I would love to hit this run with Ya'll but my SC is on jack stands waiting my bushings. (I treashed the rear plate bushings during last weeks funrun along with the rr shock)
I have reservations in Ashville the 3rd week of may and will hit the dragon on the 16th. I have the wifes permition, since she will be riding shotgun I'm glad I do!

Hmm, Dragon run or study for finals? Better study, so I can get a high sign on bonus. The Dragon is something that everyone with a sports car should do at least once. Have fun guys the weather looks great and be carefull--watch out for those crazy bike guys. Post some pics when you all get back.

Procon was pulling into my subdivision as I was rolling out to go out and play on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He took a ride with me. I told you I was timid in this car.

If the Dragon is as tight as you say it should be a hoot. The Blue Ridge is a little too sweeping to really have fun. You have to go too fast to make it interesting. The footage looked awesome. I found a really cool setup for that car.

CarreraDan - I have to hit the road back to Florida by about 3 in the afternoon so this is not an all day event. Plus Corvetteforums will be there. Our plan is to get a run or two in and get the hell out before we get tangled up with a vette.

Even Killboy warns that the Vette crowd is famous for crossing the centerline. I do not need to be around for that.

I will maake sure to bring my V-1 with me. Make sure you bring your 2 ways.

I might run to that dreaded store and pick up a couple so we can spread them out.

I have the ability to do up 4 cars for Video. I will bring all my gear. This should make for an interesting day. I wish I had my RX-7 with me. It corners like a mutha.

Okay, I was in the shop until.... well, late. It had to be late, because I ran out of beer.

Anyway, I installed the new coil (an MSD High Vibration unit) and put on new pads all the way around.

I will know later today if I can dodge work tomorrow.

With Waynes permission, I think we should plan on this as an event next spring. Pelicans on the Dragon... I can see the artwork now.

I will contact the webmaster next winter and will secure a calander date for us Pelicans.

With the help of Procon and other Pelicans in this area we can organize a fun event.

As far as the run tomarrow no biggie. I was going to be sort of late for me anyway due to my travel plans. I am sure we can throw together another run in about 6 weeks when I am back in the area.

I got up at 4:30am to load the car and set up the remote video equipment, and then drove 3 hours with a sleepy, pissed-off wife in a car with no stereo.

... and only one other Pelican showed up.

I posted in another thread in the SE section.

At 5:00 the day before the only people that were definatly goig were Procon, Carolina Trophy and myself. Procons car was not ready and he was pulling out, Carolina Trophy's friends did not want to get up so early and word was they were not going. I really did not think Carolina was going after Procon pulled out.

I was out with my family at Chimney Rock and did not get in until 8:00 at night, by the time we got the kids settled down and in bed it was 9:00 and then we went to town cleaning the house in preperation for our departure the next day. The whole departure was being held back by my trip to the Dragon. When everyone was bailing I decided to just go really early alone.

I got up at 6:30 and headed out there alone. I was back at my house in Sylva by 11:00 even after being stopped and recieving an 86 in 60 ticket on the Expressway.

After packing my stuff and the truck we left for Florida at 2:00 and did not get into my house here until 1 in the morning.

Cash, my apologies to both you and Carolina Trophy for being a no show. I just assumed no one was going. Procon tried to call me at 9:00 but I was in the middle of driving and didn't hear my phone.

Next time you are more than welcome to come stay at my house the night before. If your wife doesn't want to go maybe she can go into town with my wife and shop or get their nails done or something girly.

I have a 4 bedroom 3 bath house with lots of room for you. Plus you can throw your car in my garage next to mine for the night all set up and ready to go in the morning.

I could have been there. I did not see Carolina Trophies post that he was going with 2 others at 12:30 in the morning and did not look in the a.m. (Should have in hindsight)

Procon you were not responsible, I feel like crap that I didnt go out there anyway and see who showed up. If anything you were a victom of a shop waiting until the last minute to bang out a job and then not get it done.

This will not happen again and my offer to Cash stands he is welcome to come over a day early and crash at my house next time.

Don't take it personally.

I think the biggest reason I was upset was just that I was really looking forward to putting faces with some of the Pelican names I see each day.

Oh... and that I had to put up with a grumpy wife all day.

I never did commit myself to coming out because I had to take off from work to be there - and wasn't sure I was going to be able to do that. I ended up swapping it for my race day next weekend.

Next time, maybe we will do more advance planning and try to have a better communications network. Maybe a telephone tree?

I finally got my car back from the body shop today. I had hoped to make it as well. Maybe next time. Our PCA region is still puting together a long weekend and I will make sure everyone knows about our Dragon Run. Still some updates to add in the next few weeks, brakes, tires etc then I should be all set for a little while.
