I can't imagine ever doing business again with anyone who is closed tomorrow. Hopefully the news or someone will compile lists of some sort.

If someone who worked for me went to the rallies today and showed up for work on Tuesday, they would find someone else in their position and their pink slip waiting for them. Joe A |
My one Latin employee came in to work this morning like always. One of the the white guys here claims he drank enough Corona's to qualify him as Mexican and is demanding the day off.
I went to the grocery store and everything is business as usual. We held off our weekly grocery shopping until today help help pitch in. I have a friend that is Canadian waiting for his papers to finalize. If the government caves over this it looks like he will not have to follow through with his legal process. I also have a very wealthy client that met a beautiful Russian woman while on a diving excursion in Thialand. They are married now and live in a house in Thialand as they attempt to get he immigration papers in order. He might be able to just bring her over soon without following through with his legal obligations. |
To really show their economic impact, I would think that the illegals would also have to forsake all the free services they are getting today too.
So I am expecting the pregnant mothers to not go to the ER to deliver their child, any illegal who is currently hospitalized must immediately vacate the room, no other social services allowed, any medicaid or other government assistance must be forfeited, AND they have to take up a collection at the rally to pay the salaries of the INS agents who spend their days chasing them as well as the salaries and overhead of any prison guards or prison facilities that are currently occupied by illegals. Now THAT might start to show their true economic impact. |

Looks to me like evryone is going to work in NYC... The only problem was the F&*ing subway. Call me paranoid, but there was a slow-down this morning. A very millitant union (most of them immigrants) runs the system and I guess they are not happy with 50-70K per year, full benifits and 1/2 pay at retirement.

Yeah - everyone who usually works at the grocery store I go to was there this morning. Evidentially, management at the store told the employees if they don't show up Monday, they better have a note from a doctor, or otherwise have scheduled a vacation day.

Everything seems to be business as usual here in NYC and NJ

The market's up, so any financial impact doesn't seem to show.

My wife's not going to work today. She'd like to, but she can't. Some of you may already know that Highway 1 to San Francisco is closed due to a landslide. The only other way to SF, Highway 92, is being blocked today by a bunch of illegals. My friend the builder couldn't get into Half Moon Bay to pick up a load of lumber, so he's calling it a day, too. Yeah, this should really help us gringos get on their side. Not.

Before I upset someone un-intentionally (my PC statement): I am NOT against LEGAL immigration. It's how my family got here and how I came to be born on this soil and serve in The US Military and not The British Military.
That said: I note that this "protest" is on 1 May, or as it used to be known May Day. Please refer to your history books. I wonder about the significance... |
