Oldsmobile Info?

I have this family heirloom 64' Olds Starfire that I would like to make a roadworthy driver.
Anybody know anything about these cars? Any good places to get parts?
I would like to remove the engine and repaint it and the engine bay pretty again, any ideas on what the correct colors were on the engine and where I would get engine paint in those colors? The engine is a 394ci, don't know too much more about it.

Thanks for any info
Vinny

Here's a few pics of it

That looks like quite a find!

Are you going to take it down to frame and restore from there or just pull the engine and get the mechanicals in order?

www.hirschauto.com will be the place to find the engine paint along with the black chassis paint you'll need for the 'bay.

Thanks legion
I just rebuilt the carb and did a tune-up with points etc.. and it runs pretty well.
I don't have the time or space to do a frame off restoration so like you said - get the mechanicals in order sounds about right.
The brakes don't work at all so I'd like to begin there and then freshen up the front end and suspension.

Goal right now is to get it running and driving well, then pay someone to give it a nice paint job.

How nice, there's never any cool places near anywhere I live.

They also stock all sorts of German bulk interior materials; let us know your impressions of the place.

cool. I've got a 62 Super 88. Ebay has tons of Starfire parts but very few for my 88. try usapartssupply.com for a catalog. I have the factory service manual if you need some info from it. I'll find the site with all the info about our cars and post it later. I've been researching info about my car for the last year but didn't save the sites

I had a 57, 63, and 69 olds.

I installed PD package springs, sway bar, then Koni shocks in the 69 with Caddy tires. That tightened it up immensely. Without it was a sloppy mess.

I blew up the 57 at around 120mph in the rain when I was 17 coming home from drinking. I think my averge gas millage was around 8mpg.

Great links-
I'm going to check out usapartssupply

There's another place about a mile away from me here in Jersey

http://www.kanter.com

I bought my carb kit and tune-up parts from these guys but I'd like to know whatelse is out there.

John- does the service manual give a CO% to set the mixture at? I just winged it with the two adjustment screws till it seemed OK.

Ronin your a braver man than I to drive a car like this at 120....

Great, I really needed that stuff

Funny , it seems like "Use your best judgement" is the correct way to set the mixture. The service info only states initial turns.

Thanks again

Great place! I live a mile from Kanter on the Parsippany/Boonton border, bought my carb kit over there. When I went it was near closing time so they sent me to the warehouse on Myrtle ave to pick it up myself. The place was really impressive, like going back in time.

As far as Olds parts go I have to say the place Fusick that John just posted above seems like my best bet. Looks like they have every little obscure Starfire part I would need. Even the funky Air cleaner graphic that I was thinking would be unobtanium

Awesome, you can't beat OT for getting pretty much any info you need.

(Have you ever heard of Hibernia Auto Restoration? The guy is a neighbor. BTW, I work in Parsippany. )
