Damn windows
 

Microsoft just released this update that tatoos a non-geniune copy of windows on windows startup to remind you every damn day that it's a pirate copy. Of course mine is geniune, just saying that it must suck for those other guys:rolleyes: . I guess it's time to learn me some linux.

Maybe it would be worth MS policing its software if it had a decent product in the first place. I'd start there.

Um, one can get rid of that annoying notice.... Not that I would know or anything.

Bastards... someday they will get theirs. Am getting closer and closer to switching to Linux...

Once you go Mac, you'll never go back....

Mac OS X has right/contextual click, use the Apple "Mighty Mouse" or other 2 or 3 button mouse. You can click-hold the corner of a window and drag to full screen. When you have multiple overlapping/obscuring windows, as an alternative to Windows Alt-Tab you hit the Expose key (an F-key) and every window is visible, click on the desired one and it becomes foremost.

I can't figure out why people think Apple should copy MSFT's ludicrous GUI design philosophy?

I downloaded fedora core 5 last night, and i'm going through all sorts of information on linux online. I guess what i'm saying is that i'm going to try and make the jump, i have other computers with windows incase i fall.

Our way or the highway. We know better than you. If it doesn't make sense then you're just too dumb to understand our brilliance.

The 1984 Apple commercial gets more and more ironic with every new update to Mac OS. :D

I know less about Mac OS than Windows- how it stores files, etc. I've never needed to know, which means I've never had to fix it. Uninstalling a program just involves dragging it to the recycling bin- there's no third-party uninstall program to accidentally delete itself and then say "This program cannot be uninstalled because the file xxxxx.exe is missing."

Windows was pretty quick and stable for my computer until I put it online. I used to be an occasional gamer, and it crashed about once a year. Since it went online 2 years ago, it needed a reformat about once a year. When it needed it again after a month, I swore off Windows. I'll take having to ctrl+click over that anyday.

We used to have downtime about once a month on our home network with PCs. Some setting would change itself, and nobody would be able to go online. My brother bought a Mini and we bought my mother a new iMac, so the whole network is Mac. They literally set themselves up on the kitchen table.

Guess what i'm online with :D. I should have switched to fedora a long time ago, down with windows, up with linux.

I saw the "problem with Windows" and thought I'd come on and tell you to try pariffin in the runners, or change the sash balances. I don't know anything about this *****.

Well i'm getting settled into linux now. Not that hard, just different. The key to it i found is to understand it's "different" style of file management, and learn to use "yum", everything else falls into place after that.

Did you install the distro or are you running off the Fedora demo?

Does it play nice with your peripherals?

It's installed, on a seperate HDD, i haven't used windows now in almost a week, feels kind of liberating. As far as my hardware peripherals, yes, but i haven't made an honest attempt yet to get to my printer that's on a windows machine through a windows network yet. As it stands now, flash works, adobe works, java works, and my plugins for other media formats including ones from windows (.wmv) now work as well. I can definitely say that i'm not planning on going back to windows.

If Vista does what M$ says, it might actually be a pretty good OS.

Yes, printers is where I always stall with Linux setups. I can never seem to get them to work, though I haven't tried new distros in a couple years.

Do you have documents in windows? How do you plan to use those in Linux?
