Which bottle of booze to Purchase?
 

Finally got through some old bottles of Dewer's and Cutty Sark last year and treated my self to some Cragganmore. I then read one of the American Bourbon Whiskey threads and picked up some Maker's Mark. It tasted like charcoal mixed with gasoline to me, edgy without proper character. Then I found some Woodford Reserve and that was much more to my liking - just finished it.

The guy nxt door treated me to some Bushmills Select he picked up duty free in Canada - very smooth, I liked it.

Which bottle of booze to Purchase?

No $50 bottles this summer, not with the price of gas what it is.

perhaps a nice fortified wine. and some spoons...you and tabs can go halvsies...

Perhaps some Laphroaig single malt?

Knob Creek Bourbon?

Buy whatever has enough alcohol to do the job you want done...The"finest in the world"? It's still just booze...

Second on the knob creek.. $25 and very drinkable. I can't stand Makers.

Lathan & Graham "Woodford Reserve" for a US whiskey.

Scotch? A nice old Highland Park.

Irish? Black Bush!

I'd suggest Portwood 21 year old single malt from The Balvenie distillery. While it's more than your budget, you'll never drink Cutty Sark again, and it will last longer to boot. Drinking it is almost a religious experience.

mmm tasty Laphroaig, a nice smokey malt. Lagavulin is a good one too if you like smokey.

For a nice balanced malt, try any of the Macallans. I like the 12 yr more than the 16 and the limited edition ones are very nice too :)

I'm drinking some Bunnahabhain right now. Great stuff, and just under fifty bucks. I'll second both the Lagavulin and Laphroaig, and add Talisker as well. Oh, and the Porterwood Pat suggests... ooh yeahhhh... All of Balvenie's stuff is good. Their Doublewood is another favorite. All just a smidge over budget, but what the hell. Drink more and drive less.

Bombay Saphire, Sweppes Tonic, and a lime.

JW black label (about to finish my Xmas gift of green label). and right now i have tanqueray.

legion, have you tried HENDRICKS gin? damn good. my next bottle for sure. and i like the tiny cans of gin from trader joe's. small enough not to go flat, and it works out to two drinks per can. limes from my tree...

We have a heck of a list going, even a small bottle (pint) of scotch or bourbon is going to last me about three months. I just want something to warm me up after driving with the top down or laying on a cold driveway all day working on the car. It helps get the aches out ya know.

The thing I did not like about the Bushmills is it did not give you that heated flush warming feeling. I drink just small amounts of this stuff and just for the "kick".

I can see most of you know this topic well, I will take this list and check off the names over a number of years - THANKS.

If you like Woodford Reserve and Bushmills I suggest you try Jameson's for the same price range.

IMO the best. It is a little pricey@ $60.00 / fith

Second choice would be Wild Turkey Rare breed (107 proof)

Third would be Wild Turkey 101

Have become addicted to 12 year old Balvinie.

Just nothing like it and have been drinking bourbon since I was a kid, so it took a lot to get me to look elsewhere.

Balvinie is definitely not hard to drink... Laphroaig is also very nice but you better be ready for the smoky taste, I like it but I wouldn't pour it for just anybody.

Both are a little expensive however sometimes you can catch them at trader joes for a good price.

Southern Comfort is the bomb baby!! :D LOL
