Nice choice Nathans, but I wouldn't sink $10K into a classic daily driver that'll get stolen for parts, rear ended or door-dinged all over.

Buy a piece'r 'dub saved from the crusher, triangulate some light bars from the shock mounts to the bumpers and between, and do the basic necessary rust-kill-attempt stuff.

Then put in a smog-exempt modernized hydraulic-lifter FI powertrain with cat and check the oil every month.

Jim, yeah, a scooter or motorcycle has crossed my mind... but not much of an option right now for me, as my apartment complex is on a highway. I have to deal with traffic going 45-65mph on that road, and just would not feel safe on something with only 2 wheels.

I'm also not interested in a little $100 POS that someone dumped. I don't want a mystery box on wheels. I'm making a compromise getting a new econobox, but it's one I'm willing to make. With a new car, I'll have a warranty, and from the word 'go', any problems will be ones I either know about, or ones I caused.

I'm starting to think like my dad, who's driving the 1988 Ford Aerostar that we got new. It's cheap to maintain, and he knows what all the problems are with it.

Heres a thought, how about an old Porsche? Say a 912 or 356. You can get almost 30mpg, a little performance and it isn't a total POS to begin with. I just happen to have a 69 912 daily driver thats in excellent shape and its for sale.
