Blackberry or something else?
I want to have mobile web abilities. I don't really know much about the technology though. I went to Sprint and looked at a Blackberry phone and a Trio which uses Sprints mobile web service. The trio seemed to work pretty well and had a touch screen that the Blackberry unit lacked. I would also like gps navigation. Any insights on this are greatly appreciated.SmileWavy

I'd get a Treo or something akin to it. Something that runs on Windows is probably the way to go. I've had the last couple generations of the Blackberry product and now a Treo. Better product in my opinion.

For email go with Blackbery, for web the Treo will be best but they are still very problematic. They crash and seem to have a lot of problems. the next version is going to carry Windows but in Mobile "smart phones" windows represents less that 5% marketshare. Look up the e61 from nokia, it will offer lots of choice for email services, full Html browser and great phone functionality.

Look at the Cingular 8125, brand new phone from them. It runs on Windows Smartphone 2005. I got one and haven't a single complaint.

If you want web browsing, then you have to get a data plan. Don't even consider a plan that is based on 5Mb or so of data. You will be stunned when you see the overage charges. First figure out which carrier covers best where you travel. Then look at the devices they sell. For Cingular, I also vote with the 8125. For Verizon and Sprint they sell a 6700 which is a first cousin to the 8125. And Verizon also has the Treo 700w which is much better than the older 650's.

My Treo crashes like a Kennedy...It's not so great as a phone - if you're a power user you may have problems - it just freaks out from time to time.
I wish I had a Blackberry and a seperate phone, that way I can email and talk at the same time.... |
Verizon Samsung i730, exchange push email :) too cool.

I ended up getting the 6700. Thanks everyone for the help!SmileWavy
I'll post some feedback on it after I use it a bit. |
