I can give you advise from a good perspective, since my son is now a flight instructor and will be applying to the regional airlines soon for a pilot job.

My son went to Embry Riddle at the main campus in Dayton Beach and got a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science along with a Commercial, Instrument, Multi, CFI, CFII and MEI ratings. He is flight instructing now to build hours. From seeing my son's course work at Embry Riddle you definitely get exposed to high level aviation subjects. He thinks it was well worth it. It cost $90K to get the degree and all the ratings.

The other choice:

Go to the most convenient local college and get a degree, if it's not an aviation specific degree then most places don't care what subject it's in. But almost everyone requires a 4 year degree for pilot jobs. After you get your degree enroll in a Flight Academy like ATP and go through their professional pilot course. In the end you may save a few dollars.

You gots some serious rednecks in dat neck-o-da woods fo sho! Vash, Id be willing to bet back in the day if they saw an Asian fella they would think he was there to deliver Chinese food or was an exchange student. Actually things have changed. Tech as well as UNT and te UTs have a pretty srtong Asian influence which is actually boosting up their post grad engineering status.

It never fails, if you spot a car with a Tech sticker on it and you get a chance to see the chick driving it - she will be hot. Even the Mommas that have a kid there are smoke'n.

Vash is an atypical Asian. As I said before, he's the only Chinese dude I know with a Mexican accent.
