What Happened At Haditha? (Alleged Military Killings)

What happened at Haditha?

I haven't seen these alleged killings mentioned here. We have enough posters who are close to the military, thought someone would have brought it up.

The only people who really know what happened are those who were there.

Hope that the truth comes out. Until then it would be nice if everyone else would stop putting ideas forward, but with todays press thats not going to happen.

It's come up in a couple of other threads -- notably the 'fake soldier' thread, which I had assumed referred to Dubya.

Doesn't sound good, but let's let the investigation take place.

And half of them are dead . . .

As you say, the US doesn't have an indefinite amount of time to prepare for this. Whatever happened, happened 2-3 months ago, it's remarkable that its been kept off the front burner for that long.

Now that the matter is breaking onto the front page, the military have got to act quickly. Complete the investigation, publicly announce the findings and conclusions, deliver punishment and reparations if appropriate. And the Administration has got to publicly tell Americans what happened and what is being done.

The disaster of Abu Ghraib was made far worse by the slow and torturous way that the facts came out. The Guantanamo Bay mess has been made worse by the attempt to keep the facts secret.

Trouble is, that is not the methodology that the US military operates.

It will spin, sanistise, delay, obfuscate, distract, deny and lie.

We have seen it many times before.

That has occured, the US government is going to burn some more of the lower ranks, just like the Abu Graib tortures.

Taken from a public relations point of view, you can't reasonably call them anything but. When the President is giving speeches apologizing for Abu Ghraib as our biggest mistake in Iraq, should we pretend it wasn't a disaster?

this doesn't surprise me , the last 20 years wars became so called more precise, more clean, more humane
which in every way is laughable... war is never clean or humane, and it never will be untill wars become a tag team fight between the leaders on both sides, in a Thunderdome style arena...won't be clean, but at least it would be as humane as can possibly be...

Jet Jockeys and Sailors in general can keep it clean most of the time , from their perspective, but anyone who's near or behind enemy lines will be subjected to horrible things, and the truth is , nobody can predict how people cope, some will tough it out, some will off themselves and others will just snap, any psychiater will tell you that this is unavoidable when grunts are in this **** for long periods of time...
