There have been questions raised about libertarianism over the last few days, demonstrating a substantial misunderstanding about what it is and what it means to be a libertarian. I'm posting this speech by L. Neil Smith, as hard core a libertarian as there is, to enlighten those that desire it.

But to the point: those of us who detest this insane, evil, and stupid war—and the insane, evil, and stupid creatures who perpetrate it—may rest assured that there are many other people, besides libertarians, who want to see it end as quickly as possible. There are national figures of various kinds, movie stars like Richard Dreyfuss, war mothers like Cindy Sheehan, musicians like Neil Young and Natalie Maines, and a great many ordinary individuals, as well, struggling every day to end this war. As a child of the 60s, and an opponent of the war in Vietnam, it feels very much like where I came in.
He is a leftist, through and through, disillusioned leftist...a neo-communist, a liberaltarian...What a jackass...a simpleton, a bore and a fool. "Insane, evil and stupid" and then he goes on to mention Dreyfus, Sheeman and musicians to bolster his cred?...Then he goes on to mention his work for the communist party of America, opposing Vietnam? Jackass. |

Okay, I usually don't read your *****, Patsy, as it is usually in the form of diarrhea. I took a moment of my valuable time, throwing intellect to the wind...My mistake...This guy is a freakin crackpot. It is no wonder you are so far out in left field.
I hope your boy Lester Neil Smith III becomes the face of the liberaltarian party...He will ensure that the liberaltarians become nothing more than what they are, irrelevant. Last edited by Mulhollanddose; 05-27-2006 at 12:30 AM.. |

"Libertarians believe the answer to America's political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a free-market economy and the abundance and prosperity it brings; a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom that marks this country above all others; and a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade as prescribed by America's founders."

Am I happy with the current political parties?...of course not. I do, however, feel much more comfortable with them than anything I have seen the losertarians put forth. |

Sorry you feel that way...which, I think, is an expression of the disgust you (and I) feel for the, "Genuine Libertarian Speaks" bravo sierra posted above. I disagree with your summation...change a few words to the Preamble to the Constitution and it could be from page one, Pravda, circa 1980. My goal is to try and achieve two things: 1) Help establish a viable third political party based on the desires outlined in the founding documents of this country, 2) Failing that (or in conjunction), push the conservative party to realize what a miserable wretch they have become, in the sincere hope they make suitable changes. I'm on the Hill almost weekly...the difference between the hogs at the trough is nil.

Of course, I've come to realize that salvaging this government is not only not possible, it's not desirable either. |
