cool collar of airflow?
|
6% increase in fuel economy? this is cool collar, split-fire, K&N, dura-lube, and tornado all rolled into one.

Actually, vortex generators arent snake oil. they have been researched and are even used on production cars. Mitsubishi uses them on the Evo
Here is a white paper supporting vortex generators whether they offer an increase of 6% in fuel economy is suspect., but they do in fact help airflow around and over a vehicle. |
I've actually considered adding them on the back of the racecar roof. They're essentially the same as "turbulator strips" on airplane wings. They help delaminate the airflow and make less drag in the end...

The science behind them is proven but in this application the claims of performance improvement are total BS.
Maybe if we were building bonneville racers and were only concerned with improving top speeds that were already very high, there might be an advantage. Someone needs to take a lap around a track without them and then one with. I'd bet a beer that the variance in lap times will not be influenced at all by this device. |
