China trip photos part 1

This trip was too much an adventure to put into words. But here are a few teaser photos from my stay in a Tibetan community in northwest Sichuan province. This woman is actually not Tibetan, but rather from the Qiang tribe nearby. Can you spot the tourist?

Some of the local scenery.

Some ladies in a nearby village taking a break on the street.

Here's the Tibetan village where we spent a few days. Photos and words don't do it justice.

more to come....

One of the very hokey bridges I crossed on out very long hike into the mountains.

Another local.

And the local Porsche dealership in Chengdu.

LOTS more to come....

Cool! Could you send me some pointers on things to see and do around ChengDu? I have to go there to rub elbows with the local govt and would love to get out to hang with the governed.

Alfred, Chengdu is my favorite city in China and I've been there 3x now. You won't see many ugly women. They are gorgeous there. Hot pot is the city's signature cuisine and the street vendors and kiosks have great food on skewers too. All of them rub the stuff in scorching hot chili powder. They only eat super spicy food there. It's dirt cheap. Panda breeding research center is nearby, Tian Fe Square is very bustling and the city is just great. I would kill to be able to travel there on business. I need whatever job you have.

Oh, and you absolutely must go get a foot massage or two at Fu Qiao in Chengdu. It's their best such place and costs maybe $6-$8 for 90 minutes of pure heaven. I went there for the full body massage too, which was around $12 for two hours of getting worked over by some cute countryside girls.

Here's some hot pot.

And here's one of my friends getting the full acrobatic massage workover. Those girls were masochists and loved beating on us.

Here's a tsunami of bicycles in Chengdu.

And here's some of the night sky in Chongqing. CQ is at least as hilly as San Fran., so there are no bicycles there. I saw a total of four bicycles in three days there. I also took a motorcycle taxi one night - no helmet of course. I'd be happy if they even bothered to use headlights at night there. That was a pure adrenaline ride.

A little shopping on the outskirts of CQ.

Ok, why can't I upload photos now? The link to upload does nothing when I click on it now.

One of their less egregiously bad translations.

A great foot massage in Guangzhou.

I think we've all seen this before.

Here's a restaurant hazing their new staffers. No, this is actually a pre-shift pep rally. If you like women in uniform, China is the place to be.

Another stellar meal. This one was more than the three of us could come close to finishing and we had about 4 580ml beers. Bill was around $12 total.

cool pics, RL. Glad your back. I was afraid you were lost in China and I'd have to break into your garages and work out the SC and 993. Rats!

I gave the 993 a very hard workout today. She and I missed each other a lot. I got her over 100mph on Old Ox Rd. today and the radar detector went off just as I passed the last car. Didn't get me though. Whew!

Cool photos RL. It was good seeing you yesterday, too bad you didn't stick around longer. I want to hear the stories in person. Amazing trip man!
