P-cars in the GrandAm

Grand Am really IS NASCAR road racing. What carnage at Mid Ohio today. The sad thing is The Porsche engined DPs could have finished respectably but they keep running into each other! They did at the Glen and there was the 39 into the 8 car today. And the Bimmer at the end of the race was just sad. It reminds me of all the GM hooligan crap at the end of last season's Speed World Challenge.

I wish I had some idea of what you're talking about, but I don't. No SpeedChannel/Vision/whatever-the-hell-they-call-themselves-now. It only comes combined into the super-deluxe-diamond-platinum cable package, with 328 extra stations I don't watch, for only an additional $70/mo. And with the ridiculous overabundance of NASCAR gab on it (as opposed to real NASCAR racing, which I wouldn't mind because racing's racing), it's just not worth it to me. Still, I get the hint that P-cars didn't do so hot at Mid-Ohio, huh?

The DP cars didn't anyway. In GT the 3rd place 911 sort of lucked into a win when the second place 'GTO' nailed the rear side of the first place BMW in the back straight kink and sent Bimmer off of the track where he hit a dip in the grass. That sent him into 6 end over end flips. The guy is lucky to be alive in my opinion. The DP Alex Job car was pretty quick but lost another alternator. The 39 car was running well and ran into the back of the 8 Porsche powered car.

I don't blame you for not paying extra for it. I rarely watch it anymore compared to the Speedvision days. It happens to be bundled in with our basic cable so I have it and it was a nice back-to-back Sunday, the Canadian GP and the Grand-Am following, plus a miserable rainy day outside.

Joey Hand was REALLY lucky to walk away from that crash. In his words on the GrandAm website, he thinks Edwards never lifted in order to avoid the contact, basically drove into his right rear and got the rear of the BMW loose. Hand said it was a racing incident, but reading into his statement you can tell he is PO'd.

He got into the grass in the infield got the car straightened out then shot over a berm, looked to be at least 5-6' in the air, nose dug in flipped, missed the tail, flipped from the nose again and continued flipping until he landed upside down at the outside wall.

The BMW accident was horrifying to watch. But Joey Hand is okay. No broken bones or serious injuries. Just bruises. His guardian angel was working overtime that day.

I am surprised by the way some of the Porsche powered DP's have been driven this year they just seem to be driving stupid. And how many alternators has the Alex Job race team eaten this year? How can an alternator be such poor quality that it can't last for a 3 hour race?

Man....I got 3 things to say.
1-whats the deal with that f'ing ski jump the bimmer hit. That should totally not be there.
2-As soon as the leading GT3 changed drivers...He could not even hold off the bimmer who was 3rd. Even comming out of the pits the porsche got a huge lead on the Pontiac when there was trouble for in the pits...

3-The race was awsome.... The sunset and the setting of the track with the trees hanging over track was perfect. Really nice track.
