Mav's Vs Heat

So who do you like in the NBA finals?

I'm torn,
I am a big Pat Riley fan and not a Shaq hater (even though I am a Laker fan) so I would like to see them win.

However the Mavericks have lived in the shadow of the Spurs for so long it would be nice to see them win (and I have relatives in Texas).

I think Riley is an under-rated coach, and I really like Dwayne Wade. I'm routing for the Heat. I think it's gonna go 7 either way...

Riley is considered a god among coaches. Under-rated????

But anyway, I have always been a Shaq fan, but I really like Nowitski as well. In the end I am rooting for the Diesel, but find it hard to root against Dallas.

Both of these teams are lacking in a55holes, which is rare in professional sports, much less the NBA.

Like to see the Glove and Jason Williams(always liked that hillbilly dope smoking showoff) win a championship, don't care for shaq much, nice elbow to Dirks melon and gash on Stackhouse's nose.

Avery Johnson is a nice Christian Gentleman who has been destined to be a successful coach since his playing days, if not this year, he will definitely have ring as coach, to go with the one he has.

I always felt that lots of people ignored Riley, saying that he just had great players...that anyone could win with his lineups. I watched him coach during the Showtime years and without him, they would not have been dominant.

Shaq seems like a genuinely nice guy however it seems like he gets a lot of non-calls. I don't know if it is because he is such a big guy the ref's cut him slack or if it is because of his fame/popularity.

It's a bit of a conundrum for the officials. You cannot penalize Shaq because he's a beast, so you have to let him make the same moves as everybody else. The difference is that an ass bump from Shaq is an earth moving event. Foul? You have to let him square to the basket without calling a foul, but his shoulders will sometimes send you into the bleachers from just such an innocent move.
Remember the bull**** they used to let Charles Barkley get away with, his "ass ball"? Just dribble ...bump...dribbble.,..bump etc.. until he was under the hoop. What if Shaq did that?

You said "ass ball" :p

Been a Laker fan all my life, but since they're out and I'm located in South Florida it's GO HEAT............

I am forever a Lakers fan but I would love to see Shaq win another title however if he doesn't play well, the team just doesn't go anywhere. Wade is good but still very young. In LA, we had Shaq, Kobe (yes I know people don't like him) and Phil and a great consistent defensive supportive cast in Ron Harper, Brian Shaw, Robert Horry and Rick Fox. Keys to victory in my opinion, Shaq dominating both offensive and defensive and good passing when he is double/triple teamed.

Been a Shaq fan since he played w/ the Magic. Love the Heat and their tenacity.

I read an article in SI while in a waiting room. It was describing a pre-game locker room scene.

Zoe is in his game mode. Game face serious as all hell and looking mad. Everyone aviods him and gives him space. I walks Shaq headphones around his neck music turned up so loud anyone in 15 feet can hear it. He walks towads Zoe, gets in close, real close like an inch or two off Zoes face. Stevie Wonder is blasting on the headset. Zoe flashes Shaq an irritated look. Sort of a back off look. Shaq gives that boyish smile and starts bopping his head to the beat. In a second or two Zoe is bopping too and they both just smile at each other as they bop along to Stevie.

I hope they win the Finals. They are two great guys that deserve it.

I'd like to see Payton get a title.

He tried like hell to get one in '96 as a Sonic but, well, Jordan was still playing for the Bulls.

As a matter of fact, I haven't been this into the NBA playoffs since '96 when The Glove was God in Seattle and Shawn Kemp was skinny. ;)

i think Maverick was way better then Iceman, even after Goose bought the farm an Merlin became Mav's Rio for the final showdown with the Mig's...not sure where these stupid heats come into play ,cause i didn't see any heat in TopGun ... mmmmkaaay ??!?!

Well, have to admit I am becoming a Maverick fan. After the way the Heat was barly able to sqweek out a win with the home team advantage I don't think it is looking too good for them.
