ABS Brake Pad Replacement Question
Is there anything different between replacing normal brakes (pads and possible rotors) as compared to an ABS system? I'm due to replace the pads on my 2001 Dodge Dakota and am wondering if I can takle or not. Is there special equipment needed for ABS? Anything I need to be cautious of?
I'll be buying the book before I proceed but wanted to get some quick advice.

Should be nothing special needed at all, just a simple pad change..

On vehicles with ABS, there is high pressure air lines. On those cars I have worked on, these are bled by applying the brakes with the key off a number of times. I would get a manual before trying it.
Better safe than injured.

True...to clarify my response - should be nothing special if all you are doing is changing pads and do not need to remove any lines or bleed. If you do, there could be other measures that need to be taken, but I don't know specifics...

Therefore, it's could be as simple as pulling the calipers, compressing, replacing pads, re-installing, and a way I go.
I haven't checked the rotors for specs and will definitely get the manual. I just had a curtesy check that stated I only had 3 mm left. Thanks for the advice. Michael
