Buick Rendevous

How come everyone crucifies the Aztec and nobody says anything about this designed by survey ridiculous looking POS?

It sits as high as Bigfoot and has 2 inches of ground clearance. Whats with that?

I don't know anyone that bought an Aztec either and that's the problem.

I own stock in both GM and Ford and I'm thinking what crap they put out. I should have sold everything when Ford had a large cash/shares option about 5 years ago (thankfully I took the cash). They (and the shareholders) did great when they peddled 70's technology SUVs.

p.s. I'm not that enamored with what Porsche is doing nowadays either.

end of rant.

Isn't the Rendevous the one that Tiger Woods was pushing? I think I've seen three on the road.

I had one on travel to Ohio. Ugly but like most American cars, the a/c worked like a champ.

I'm with you Rick, this is one of the most sickening vehicles to exit GM's tailside in years.

Its ugly, but AZTEK ugly? Naw, that was a whole different level of nasty.

Aren't the Rendevous and Aztec the same vehicle?

Yes, they are built on the same platform.

The aztec took things to a whole new level of ugliness.

My brother and sister in law bought a Rendevouz, I think they wanted an SUV, hated the minivans, so settled on the Rendevouz which they could afford. I dont like it, but as a people mover (they have 2 young kids) I would choose it over a minivan or SUV as well.

What is that supposed to be?

Looks like an on road off road that sits high to give a false sense of security, decrease gas mileage, destroy handling and emergency avoidance?

You should see the freakin' plant they built to build this car/truck/vehicle!!

It is awesome. The raw material comes in one end and goes out the other a completed vehicle. EVERYTHING is done in house.

Well, you are right, it doesn't handle like a Porsche.

Remember, however, that the competition for an eight passenger vehicle is .... hold on now .... ANOTHER 8 pass vehicle.

Minivan? Full size van? Crossover? (SRX? Pacifica? R-class?) Full size SUV?

Given the competition, I don't see how:
It sits any higher -- step-in height is a low 18.9 inches
Decreases gas mileage -- 267 horsepower 3.6L DOHC V6, 6 speed auto, 25mpg freeway
Destroys handling -- Lower cG than a minivan or full-size SUV
Emergency avoidance -- Full independent suspension, r&p steering, Stabilitrak, wide 67.3" f/r track, long 118.9" wheelbase, 18 or 19 inch wheels

Judged by other 8 passenger vehicles, it doesn't sound like a behemoth or a sloth.

By the way, the Buick Enclave is also shared as a Saturn Outlook, and GMC Acadia.

If you can get by with a Porsche as a daily driver, then you can scoff at these types of vehicles all you like. But for those of us with families or business needs, it poses an interesting alternative to a minivan or Suburban.

I just sold my original Yellowbird and bought myself an Aztek and a Rendezvous as my weekend track car.

I think the sales of those vehicles are going down faster than the Titanic.

This is the type of vehicle GM and Ford wants the US to buy? I guess management deserves another bonus. Maybe a stock option on their penny stock.

My father-in-law has a Rendevous. He loves it. Of course, he comes from a Buick family--every car they've ever had has been a Buick. But it's comfy, utilitarian, has AWD, and works for him. He's no car-guy by any stretch of imagination. The thing is brown. Not Nougat brown, but rather ***** brown. My wife hates driving it, as Buicks tend to drive like boats.

OK

I admit to having no taste when it comes to SUV type vehicles, and consider them to be simply ego boosters and for most owners, pretentious status symbols that will never be used the way the engineers intended.

That being said, at first glance, the Enclave looks different from the Cayenne only in detail. They are all ugly.

But like I said, I have no taste when it comes to SUVs.
