Economic boycott.

legion 06-16-2006 06:08 AM

Anyone else think that becoming a member of PETA should make one elgible for becoming Soylent Green?

RickM 06-16-2006 06:16 AM

Heh heh, I was goint to post this.

"...Whole Foods management decided to immediately stop selling live lobsters and soft-shell crabs, saying they could not ensure the creatures are treated with respect and compassion."

Next time I'll whisper sweet nothings into the lobster's ear, light some candles, play soft music....then I'll throw it into the boiling water.

Seriously. If there was an easy way to kill the buggers right before cooking I'd do it.

dhoward 06-16-2006 06:18 AM

So... They'll sell frozen lobster that has been dumped into a large cooker with all of his friends and steamed alive.
"But that's ok, cause little kids weren't harassing them."

Poor lobsters, yum.
:)

Yeah, but will you call the next day?

Seriously. If there was an easy way to kill the buggers right before cooking I'd do it.

How about a comprehensive anthology of Mul and Fint's posts?

shooting geese/duck w/an AR-15????????????? now that sounds like fun if you have a damn big cleared back-drop!

im so sorry for the little lobsters..............im sure lettuce heads in the fields of YUMA,AZ. feel pain and suffer everytime the illegal aliens whack them off from the ground and put them in their cart!
NOW WHAT ARE THE PETA MEMBERS GONNA EAT!

TOP DIVER TIP FOR LOBSTER YOU CATCH(or spear).............when back on boat or beach after diving take lobster antennae and run up lobsters a$$...........i kid you not! REASON.........the antennae will clean out anal cavity of you know what! then break carapace off from tail, and throw tail in boiling 50/50 water and beer! bring butter/lemon to slow heat................AND FEED YOUR FACE!

explain to PETA that back in the 1800's lobsters were DISSED for being bottom feeders and a food source only the POOR ATE!

I think that there is a way to jam a knife into the bundle of nerves that make up the lobsters brain that will kill it immediately. I am not exactly posotive on how it is done, I'll google it and see what comes up.

Rich

EDITED to show you this:

Some cooks are concerned about humanity issues of cooking a live lobster. In fact, research indicates the lobster has no central nervous system or cerebral cortex to register stimuli, thus mostly likely can feel no pain. Killing the lobster just before cooking is the preferred method. There are several ways to accomplish this. Putting the lobster in the freezer an hour before cooking will do the trick. Quicker yet is to plunge the tip of a sharp knife straight down right behind the lobster's eyes.

I thought it was funny that they mention freezing the lobster to death, as a counter option to boiling to death. The article also said that when the lobster is placed in head first it dies almost immediately anyway. They did say though that the lobster tensing its muscles while boiling to death could make the meat a little tougher.

Oh and I am a member of PETA. (People who Eat Tastey Animals).

billyboy 06-16-2006 09:26 AM

You can just twist off their heads and throw them in. The whole deal with them being alive is to be sure that they are fresh. Shellfish of all types spoil rapidly. Be sure to cover their eyes on the heads after you remove the tail so they can't see you dropping their tails into the water.;)

charleskieffner 06-16-2006 10:26 AM

i'll have to use the "BLIND FOLD " TRICK next time! should gain us points w/the GENEVA CONVENTION! LOL!

There are certain species of shellfish that are best eaten alive. Lobsters ain't one of them.:D

charleskieffner 06-16-2006 10:34 AM

I wonder how much you would have to lead one at 656 LASERED yards.

charleskieffner 06-16-2006 10:46 AM

those pip-squeak .223's gyrate flip do somersaults etc. but i think with practice at the range we could get real good. only problem the FEDERAL prison on other side of ben avery range may get pissed about ducks/geese falling on their heads........aside from lead falling out of sky. thats why they banned .50 cal. guns there! poor mariel boat criminals!

If god had not intended man to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.

tonight when i get home will forward some pics if i can find them of a few "BUG-BASHES we have been on in baja. 20 million years ago when i was single, we went down south of ensenada(secret bug place), we literally hit pay dirt! dove off of lil piece of crap bonka boat we rented and went out about 5-6 klicks off of land where we had found on marine charts previous trip a undersea mount that dropped to 300ft. when you went out on minus tide the swells would just barely allow you to see top of mount. anchored bonka boat and hit it with twin 80's for some good down time.(we were young and strong then). anyway about 80 feet we hit BUG CITY!!!!!! problem was currents pushing us into sea mount full of urchins. that was real fun! well after grabbing as many bugs as we could w/out having fingers munched by moray eel's(there is a trick), we surfaced and counted our bugs. and man there was alot! but the one that stood out was the 17# BUG i got! will dig this pic out for you! biggest bug i have ever got! to make long story short after getting back to our beach camp and downing muy mas coronas and tequila shooters we trained the lobsters. thats right we trained them! ...............TO WALK THE PLANK INTO 50/50 mix of boiling water and corona! we all thought MR BIG was gonna be tough. he wasnt and he feed the 4 of us with some tail still left over! what a trip that was! we FOUND BUG CITY!

charleskieffner 06-17-2006 06:13 AM

now heres some BUGS WALKING THE PLANK!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1150553479.jpg in baja! its better in baja!
