Troubles with Linksys WRT54G
 
Wireless router loses its internet connection several times a day. Unplugging it and replugging it in solves the problem, but is inconvenient.

Any ideas? I"ve gone to the linksys website, but haven't found anything addressing the problem.

Comcast broadband
Dell 2400 running Windows XP Home SP2 - wired directly into the router with an ethernet cable

Separate question - should I upgrade the firmware? Don't think I've touched the unit since it was installed 2+ years ago

I have the same h/w, and I get the same thing, but it's the DSL line itself that's the problem; I've verified this by bypassing the router and going straight to the modem.

Just something to consider.

You should make sure you have the latest f/w installed.

Thanks - what happens when you go direct to the modem? (I'm not home, so can't test it myself).
If its the broadband signal, I'm presuming that you have to unplug the modem periodically?

This just started happening over the past 2-3 days.

Nothing! The root cause of the connection drop is a DSL line issue.

Correct.

This just started happening over the past 2-3 days.

Time to place a service call. I finally convinced SBC to come out and have a look.
