Are you going to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans On Speed tomorrow?

Should be an interesting race. I'm hoping the diesel powered Audis win.

Thats now ??!!!!

Thanks for the reminder !!!

Yep... got it all tivo'd. It makes it easier to run through the thing at twice the normal speed, skip commercials, and watch the "interesting parts"... wrecks, interviews, recaps, etc.

kycarguy 935 06-16-2006 11:21 PM

I'm in.

Alright! Does not start until 5 pm. My Porsche will be forced to show its colors on my way home from work. Wonder what channels they show it on here in Sweden.

Edit: 'show its colors' is a direct translation from Swedish meaning revealing its true potential. Something similar in English ?

Yep going to watch most of it. I'm hoping the Pescarola cars can at least give the Audi's a run for the win. GT Porsches should be good and the Aston Martins have been fast but you have to be reliable to beat those Corvettes. Did everyone see that starting in 2010 the LMP1 class will have to be a closed cockpit car? But LMP2 will remain open cockpit.

i think that's a good thing

it's not bloody F1 or Champcar now is it

Le Mans cars always were closed untill the proto's came around
somehow the proto's became "standard" for Le MAns

i think it's a good move... Le Mans = GT racing
GT's have roofs... 'nough said

Live timing updates for the race http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/live/chronos/chronos_gb.html . Audis first and third as of lap 147.

What a freaking joke.
I watched about 4 hours of the sensationalistic human interest story.... oops I mean the 24 hours of le Mans.
I saw a pit guy play the guitar, I saw hundreds of pit members sleeping (some of them several times) I saw the commentators interview anyone and everyone who accidentally wandered within shouting distance no matter how obscure thet may be, what I did not see much of was cars RACING!
Oh sure, I saw every pit stop, but as soon as the cars left the pits it seems the director lost interest. Although the incredibly ineptness was more prevalent at night, it continued during daylight.
With 20 minutes left in the race, I wanted TO WATCH THE CARS RACE.
Not an interview of some guy who used to be someone or might someday be someone of interest.
I bet during the entire time I watched they only showed about 20 minutes of actual racing, the rest was useless fluff that would make the lightest loafer wearer in the world sick.
Someone needs to b!tchslap that production director.

sammyg2 06-18-2006 04:30 PM

Oh, it would also be night if there was some actual competition next year. If someone would challenge Audi it might be more fun, someone like Porsche or ferrari. Anyone who isn't a small british independant.

As far as I could tell from the coverage there were only 4 cars entered in LMP1 and 3 in LMP2.
In GT1 there was a few corvettes and an astin martin, GT2 had a few porsches and a panoz.

Please tell me there was more than 15 cars entered, because that was about all I saw during the coverage I watched.

jyl 06-18-2006 05:52 PM

Okay, I did not watch LeMans (have no television at present) but I checked the results.

Am I right, Porsche failed to win GT2? If I'm reading the results right, a Panoz won the class.

Did Porsche not enter its LMP2 car? I'd like to see that car develop.

So, a diesel won. Cool. Next year, let's have a biodiesel. They can fuel it from all the frites that get served.

rfuerst911sc 06-19-2006 01:52 AM

Porsche did not win GT2, the Porsche that was leading with less than an hour to go had a gear shift lever break. While in the pits the Panoz passed them and went on to the win. The Porsche LMP2 Spyder was not entered.
