SUSE linux help
What's the command in the SUSE terminal to do a general update? I assume it has something to do with YAST?
|
How about yast2 -> OnlineUpdate (or is it System Update - I know it's one of the two)
|
Not a SuSe guy (more of a Fedora kind of guy, i.e we love yum instead)
man yast or yast --help will give you some pointers, but if I remember correctly, and as Thom points out, online_update is the way to go with SuSe |
Well this question stems from the fact that i can't get into the GUI. I can only start SUSE in "failure mode" which brings up a terminal so that i can enter commands. I'm hoping that a YAST update will solve my problem of have jumbled distorted destop when it loads into the GUI.

Ok, I just fired up yast in an x-window; from 'Software' hit the right arrow to 'system update' or 'online update' - looks like 'system update' is what you want, but it looks like you'll need your install CD, at least this box here is asking for it.
The command-line would be 'yast update' |
OK, easy enough, and i hope it works, thank you.
