When did Judicial Watch turn liberal?

Looks like they're going after Cheney... and we know only liberals criticize the administration, right?

Oops..

Newly Released Documents Raise Questions Regarding Involvement of Vice President’s Office

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that the Department of the Army, per order of U.S. District Court Judge Ricardo M. Urbina, has released to Judicial Watch approximately 100 pages of documents which detail the multi-billion dollar, no-bid contract awarded in 2003 by the Army to Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR), a subsidiary of Halliburton Co. One document uncovered by Judicial Watch suggests the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) may have publicly lied regarding the involvement of the Vice President’s office in awarding the contract.

In an email dated April 22, 2003, Carol Sanders of the USACE, writes, “Mr. Robert Andersen, Chief Counsel, USACE, participated in a 60 Minutes interview today in New York regarding the sole source award of the oil response contract to Kellogg, Brown and Root….Mr. Andersen…was able to make many of the points we had planned.” Sanders subsequently provided sound bites from the interview, including, “There was no contact whatsoever (with the VP office).”

This directly contradicts another email uncovered by Judicial Watch in 2004. The email, dated March 5, 2003, sent by an official of the Army Corps of Engineers whose name was redacted, stated, “We anticipate no issue [with the KBR deal] since the action has been coordinated w VP’s office.”

Hey cool, I like this site:

Judicial Watch to Monitor Hillary Clinton's Campaign for Re-election

The last time Hillary Clinton campaigned for the Senate in New York, she violated campaign finance laws by failing to report almost $2 million in contributions from former JW client Peter Paul leading to the federal indictment of her National Finance Chairman, David Rosen. To this day, she refuses to correct the record. Judicial Watch not only continues to seek justice in this matter, through its official complaint against Hillary Clinton with the Senate Ethics Committee and its public pressure campaign on the Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission, but JW also recently launched a brand new campaign called, “Hillary Watch 2006.”

The purpose of the program is to closely monitor all of the Clinton Senate campaign’s disclosure forms and financial reports looking for irregularities and violations. Judicial Watch will take immediate action should any problems be discovered.

“Judicial Watch does not support nor endorse candidates and Hillary has every right to run for office, but Judicial Watch has every right to make sure she abides by all campaign finance laws,” said JW President Tom Fitton. “When one considers all of the serious campaign finance violations involving both Clintons, the need for such a program becomes obvious.”

Here's another gem:

Ethics Complaints and Investigations – Senator Hillary Clinton

Senator Clinton (D-NY)
“Thanks in no small part to Judicial Watch, Hillary Clinton may be the most thoroughly…investigated person in the history of the Republic.” -- Margaret Carlson, Time Magazine, CNN’s Capital Gang.

According to the evidence compiled by Judicial Watch in the last ten years, Hillary Clinton is among the most corrupt politicians in our nation’s history. She devised a scheme to sell taxpayer financed trade missions to Communist China in exchange for campaign contributions. She presided over the theft of the private FBI files of former Reagan and Bush staffers. She led the campaign to slander the women sexually and otherwise abused by President Clinton, and has lied time and time again to investigators, to her colleagues, to the press and to the American people.

Most recently, according to a Judicial Watch’s Senate Ethics complaint filed on May 6, 2005, Senator Clinton and her campaign team conspired to defraud the U.S. Senate and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by failing to report the true cost of a $2 million Hollywood campaign fundraising event in August 2000. David Rosen, Hillary Clinton’s National Finance Director, recently stood trial for his role in the campaign finance scheme, facing charges he caused false campaign finance reports to be filed with the Federal Election Commission. Federal prosecutors, in an effort to keep Hillary and Bill Clinton out of the trial, presented a watered down case and Rosen was eventually acquitted. Still, there is a mountain of evidence implicating Rosen and both Clintons, and this evidence can be found in the following complaint filed by Judicial Watch with the U.S. Senate’s Select Committee on Ethics.

They like to keep about a 6:1 ratio of anti-Lib vs. anti-Rightie action to maintain their claim of 'independence.'

But the fact they threw Dick on the barbie is indicative of who the neocons are prepared to sacrifice.

Is Judicial Watch a bunch of neo-cons now? Maybe I misunderstood your post.

Moneyguy1 06-20-2006 04:22 PM

Hey Rick....

Even FOX news likes to wear the thin veneer of "Fair and Balanced"!!

<G>

BTW: Anyone like to know Cheney's nickname for GWB?

"The Apprentice".

You don't remember Judicial Watch/Larry Klayman from the Clinton era? I was being ironic. The organization is a darling of the neocons.

Nathans_Dad 06-20-2006 05:45 PM

Ok, so then if the organization is a darling of the neocons we should disregard their info on Cheney? I thought neocons weren't to be trusted...

I'm so confused.

Moneyguy1 06-20-2006 05:49 PM

Yes you are!!!

No organization rabidly claiming impartial or objective should be trusted.

You are confused because you expect consistentcy from liberals. They have no shame. They have no scruples or morals. They take every side of an issue, so when the time comes they can posture as if they felt that way the whole time. Your mistake is expecting character and honor out of leftists, therefore you are confused...The trick is to not allow them to get you chasing them as they bounce all over the map, just stay steady and fly straight. Call them on their lies, inconsistencies and distortions immediately. Condescend and irritate them, belittle and humiliate them and, if need be, beat the living crap out of them. Do it because you love them; like on TV when a hysterical woman won't shut up, sometimes a good slap will snap them out of it.

Cindy Sheehan is opposed to Hillary because of her War Party support. See NY Libertarian Party activities.

Klayman has been consistantly taking on the Bush Administration, and suffered funding reduction from it. He, and Judicial Watch, deserve better.

They perform a valuable function.

No, the effete liar is you, Mul.

You, who advocate sending young men off to do battle in places you think the US government ought to control, for government you think ought to be supported; all the while shrinking from actually putting yourself at risk.

Shame on you.

I used to do fundraising for Juducial Watch. Most of their donor lists (back in the Clinton days) were rented from the RNC, NRA, Heritage Foundation, Christian Coalition, etc. Larry, while I believe he's personally conservative, is a a lawyer before he's anything else and he's one of those guys who just wants to be a PITA to everyone. Just because most of his supporters were $25 donors from conservative groups doesn't mean he took his marching orders from them. BTW, the same phone bank we used also did fundraising for Giuliani and McCain back in 1998-99. Politics makes strange bedfellows.

I think Klayman has plenty of grist for his mill with this regime; more maybe.

Sounds like you're talking about Richard Viguries' lists.

Rick Lee 06-21-2006 04:56 AM

Yes, the whole operation was located in Richard Viguerie's bldg. in Manassas. I interviewed with him after I had been doing stuff for Larry for a while. He had me write a fundraising pitch for the ACU on guns. But Columbine happened right after I submitted it and it went nowhere.
