Butchered Kramer Baretta?
|
Not fair using Wayne's bandwidth for that... drop me a line if you want to use my server as a cheap image host...

Thanks - figured it was time for another guitar thread anyhow.
|
Instead of using Pelican, why don't you open a free account at photobucket.com, then link from their. I just linked this photo from photobucket.com

It is great wayne allows photo hosting for this board, many others do not, and uploading/linking is a pain in the arse...
Don't abuse it by using his bandwidth for other boards or ebay. |
Alright already - seem to be a lot of people clicking here to check out the pics so whats the difference between this thread and the "I'm a desperate married man please post pics of chicks in bikinis" thread?
|
"I'm a desparate married chick. Please post pics of guitars in bikinis, please..."
|
Can someone please link me to the thread that says we shouldn't use Wayne's bandwidth to post pictures of things like this and that we should all use our photobucket accounts instead?
Nice work, BTW, Victor. Thanks for sharing. |
For all the Gibson haters out there...I just had to buy this a couple of weeks ago. Wine Red Studio. Got a deal on it. I love it. I've never been a huge fan of gold hardware, but this thing plays wonderfully and has some great tone. Great tone...wow...

I'll post some luthier magic for the Gibson haters later today or tomorrow :) |

Thats a nice LP IROC.
I picked up this LTD Swamp Ash Studio down in Hollywood GC a few summer ago. I really wasn't a LP fan because they felt uncomfortable when playing them, till I picked up this one...... I'm really not a fan of gold hardware on guitars either, but have to live with it on my RR Jackson. The tone/feel out weighs that issue, lol. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...A/HPIM0034.jpg PS to Victor. I use Photobucket myself, and it works great for hosting/storing your photos (not riding you, just giving you a free ave for your picture storage.) |

IROC - that is a nice Studio. I actually like the "no frills" look of these things and have one myself. It's the "MKIV" or something - it has 3 pickups (the middle bing single) and a strat 5 way + a coil tap. Must be the most versatile LP out there. Will take some shots tonight and post 'em. |
I bought an LP Studio new back in the 90s. Within 1 year all of the cheap hardware broke off of it. Tuning pegs all broke, knobs all fell off. Even the frets started popping up.

Gratuitous photo of my most recent luthier hand built '59 LP replica. Yes, thats eastern maple and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard :)

Shuie, this is supposed to be a thread about Guitar butchery . That looks unreal!

sorry, that was retaliation for the earlier stab at the Gibson haters :)
Thanks guys! Wolfe, I cant wait to hear the p'ups. Thanks again for helping out. I got a chance to hear a few '50s guitars yesterday that were loaded with a good mix of PAF's and Pat. Nbr. pickups. It was a real ear opener for me. Very  stuff |

Shuie, that looks great. What hardware isgoing on, and what pups are going in, as hinted at?
|
Thanks Stuart! I'll use mostly the Gibson historic hardware and plastic, Grovers, matched pots & caps, and a set of PAF style rewound pickups from our resident boutique pickup winder, Wolfe. It still needs a lot of work, I think its going to be a nice guitar when its done. The expectation is that it will be as good or better than any Gibson Historic Ive played for less than 1/2 of the $$$ a current reissue R9 would cost.

Would you stop posting that? Its very upsetting,
|
The lump of firewood hurt it the most.

here is some more strat butchery. Originally a Bonnie Raitt Signature model, but someone still deserves a swift kick to the nuts for this. The shame of it is that it was a decent piece of wood that doesn't sound bad at all. Poly finish is still close to 1/16" in the few places where it hasn't been chipped away or burned off. It would require so much filler if it were refinished that I would almost prefer the original poly finish. I reversed the angle of the bridge pickup, flipped the trem, and played it with a LH headstock for the max Hendrix effect.

Some one going for the Rory Gallagher look?
|
There's good butchery and bad butchery. This used to be a Gibson Explorer. Some people should have taken up macrame'.
