Anyone see Frontline "The Dark Side" on PBS?

I missed it, but it's a PBS documentary on Dick Chaney. A Republican friend at work (I'm Dem of course

) told me about it. He said it was pretty scary stuff. I'd don't watch much PBS, but he does and he thinks Frontline is usually pretty unbiased. I can't find where it's going to be shown again so I ordered the DVD. It won't ship for a month or so.

I watched most of it... fell asleep towards the end. Mainly focused on Cheney and Rummy's tight relationship and the intelligence mishaps leading up to the war. Good show.

The evil twins Cheney and Rummy placed whole bunches of their cronies in positions of power in the executive branch. The Evil twins did not trust the CIA and started to collect intell in the DOD. Slowly but shirley they were able to marginalize anyone who was not for the War, and they used the scant intell they had saying over and over again, "See its this way in Iraq." and if you didn't see it that way you were given an office without a telephone. So after awhile everybody just said, "OK lets do Iraq."

U might say Thank Gawd Iraq turned out to be such a mess, cause there is no tellin what mischief the evil twins might have gotten themselves into if Iraq had been easy.

An alternative title to the "Dark Side" would be "The CIA Strikes Back"...they got their spin on Iraq out.

It is a work of fiction. I expect no less out of PBS, as those who suck from the government teet tend leftist in their politics.

Mull just because U don't like what you hear you label it as left wing propaganda. Without looking at the veracity of the material presented. Further everybody who is critical of the current administration need not be "Leftwing" The Evil Twins have no claim on Sainthood.

We are dealing with the cold steel of Power Politics and not a Goody Two Shoes idealization of the machinations of the Executive branch bureaucracy.

The facts are the facts. I would say 95% true.

Cheney and Rummy are like Cobras when it comes to Bureaucratic infighting. They had an agenda of getting rid of Sadam and they got what they wished for. I hope they are happy with the results.

The interviewees have an agenda as well, and that was to get their side of the story out. Or to tie a tin can to the tail of the evil twins.

The mistake some of our partisan contributers make is to think that everything critical of the administration is a partisan issue between the Liberals and Conservatives. There are more complexities than that going on. One might call it a struggle for bureaucratic power between agencies and indivduals. This is about the power to direct the course of National Policy on a day to day basis.

FWIW - ya gotta love dez guys, at least sump'ns gitt'n done - no idea if it is right or wrong and only history (not the channel) will tell. At least there is action.

(oh ya, rummy and chainy are interesting too!)
