No doubt some 'Bushistas' supported the Dubai port deal. On the other hand, 'right wingers' such as Michael Savage and Sean Hannity were raising hell about it and no doubt played a part in its defeat.

What is greater suspect is anything from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, and the LA Times.

Interesting that the liberals have no problem with your above mentioned news organs. Suspect even.

Fox News makes the MSM look like Pravda.

Here was Chris Matthews on the Today show this morning:

"So no matter how good the news is this June, by November you can predict based upon trends that have continued relentlessly since 9-11, the president will be in worse shape when the voters go to the polls in November."

Indeed, whatever happened to 'simple reporting'?

Also the media jumped to the defense of their biased journalistic cohort, the NYT, by repeatedly saying the WH is 'targeting' them.

Moneyguy1 06-27-2006 09:01 AM

My point exactly. Simple news reporting died during the Vietnam era.

Joeaksa 06-27-2006 09:05 AM

We need the Federal prosecutors to "target" anyone who breaks the law, period. This is a no brainer...

If U read through the documents, they sound like some prelimenary talks about cooperation. There was nothing operational in those documents. Russia and Iran were also noted as trying to be helpfull to the Taliban/Al Qaeda groups, does that mean Russia is a terrorist state as well?

Also Usama is not party to nor discussed in the documents.

Whatever happened to simple "reporting?"

They figured out that there's more money to be made on providing fat, dumb, lazy and bored Americans with sensationalistic propagandist B.S. than by providing them objective journalism.

Both sides are guilty of this. Faux "News" is a joke and CNN (which used to be a respected journalistic enclave) is so liberal/P.C. I can barely stomach their web site any more. Ultimately (as with most things) we need to look at the mirror and point the finger of blame squarely at ourselves for continuing to demand that kind of crap.

That said, anyone with a shred of common sense would realize this "story" has about as much integrity as a used car salesman trying to pay with a three-dollar bill.

Moneyguy1 06-27-2006 09:13 AM

Joe..it really breaks down to who is defining the "law".

Frankly, I think this is simply a "smokescreen" since the baddies would have to be devoid of a simpe neuron not to figure someone was tracking financial transactions.

The Times may have reported something controversial, but that is the role of the press. Look up Jefferson's comment about choosing either a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government.

I keep asking...Where have the Jeffersonian Republicans all gone?

Subtext: "We are absolutely confident, at least I am, with our abiliity to manipulate and shape polls negatively and, thusly, drive down Bush's approval numbers."

Matthews is absolutely relentless getting the drumbeat of anti-American/anti-Bush liberalism echoing throughout D.C. and the halls of leftist media and academia. There is not a liberal lie big enough for Matthews to not jump on board and advocate passionately. He is one of the left's biggest cheer-leaders.

The liberals have Chris Matthews, the neocons have Karl Rove. Chris Matthews seeks to manipulate polls, which to an extent is his job, Karl Rove sought (and did), intentionally blow the cover off a CIA agent, among other nasty little acts.

If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd expect a Rove or Matthews-like character to manipulate polls against a Democrat.

I mean, so what: that's politics.

The key is to make politicians irrelevant to your lives. The only way to accomplish that is to defund government, thereby destroying it.

For once I agree. Lets defund the govt, and that way slopat will stop receiving his retirement checks every month from the military that he says he served with and now hates so much.

You asked for it, and hope you are ready for what would happen!

I certainly am. My income would double.

This is not a war, it is an occupation. The war ended in April of 2003. 3 years is a very short time to get a country like Iraq under control. I wouldn't doubt that we will still have troops on the ground in 3-5 years.

I would suggest that there will be American troops and bases in Iraq for the next 50 years.

That's the goal of government, it's up to me and those like me to prevent that goal being attained.

It's a total smokescreen and political ploy that only the most gullible would take seriously -- and have, apparently.

We're apparently down to the level of "baddie" that couldn't organize themselves sufficiently in 8 months to go get their own boots and uniforms (Miami 7).

The federal government will intimidate them and their families in order to coerce an admission of guilt.

Watch for it.

They already did more than that, I bet. Doncha' think the agent nudged them along a bit? Not that I'm saying in any way that these folks shouldn't be behind bars -- just that they didn't appear to be much of a threat, and were most likely held on 'simmer' until it was politically expedient to roll them out.
