Truck, apparently abandoned on the street where I walk the dogs. Has been there a week, and I am debating how long to wait before notifying the authorities.

Call today.

How do the cops know if the truck is abandoned or just not running and being repaired if no one tells them?

Call today... do you want hoodlums to think of your neighborhood as a place to vandalize abandon vehicles?

How well do you know your neighbor's? You could ask around first, don't want to be jerk who called the police on uncle Fred's truck while he was visiting from Texarkana.

And what is it with the abandoned cars lately? I live in the same general area as you do, and I've seen a few obviously abandoned cars lately, but nobody seems to do anything. For instance, there's a 90's Caddy right in front of the Hollywood Video on Fair Oaks/Manzanite - been there for several days now, a couple windows are blown out, but still it sits. There was a hoopty station wagon on the other side of the shopping center (Cypress side) for months. Both cars are within a rock's throw (if you have a good arm) of the Sherriff's substation.

You never know, it could be related to a missing person case or something. I'd have to report it due to that. It would feel pretty good if your call ended up getting a dirtbag caught. Then you could go on AMW as a hero and kick ass and stuff. Yeah.

Well, the whole social experiment thing was to see if someone else would step up and call. It is a nissan truck, current registration, guess I will give a holla, same street had a burned out new beetle abandoned at the end of it, not 50 feet from where a 10 year old girl was unsuccessfully sexually assaulted(she got away, too bad it did not happen about 90 minutes earlier than it did, he could have gotten a chance to see what it feels like to have two dogs attack you)

If you don't call them, I am sure when street sweepers come around , a meter person (I have other words to describe these people but I am trying to be polite) will put tickets on the vehicle. My vote is to call the police and let them handle the situation.
