HAHAHA Nascar
I'm not a fan of Nascar so I find this funny. I was surfing and stoped on the prerace thing, they were talking about the "new" aero package for next year. A front slpitter that makes the BMW E36CSL splitter look small and the best, A rear spoiler alla Honda ricer. Even with the carbon fiber side pieces. Great just what we need, ricers with Nascar influance.
I amuse easily |
Short attention span racing is nothing but Professional Wrestling in old tech tube frame cars. Since they took over Grand Am it has gone down hill and if the wrong driver wins too many times over the sponsor, they get a phone call. They won't let em race!!
|
Call me what you want, I actually enjoy NASCAR along with most sports car racing series. Having driven an open wheel car 160mph @ TMS, I've got a lot of respect for someone who can take a fairly large car around that track at 190mph. In heavy traffic.
Bigger balls than I've got, and more skill than most of us here will ever profess to having. |
Short attention span racing?
Those races take forever... |
NASCAR is not even close in the balls dept. IOM TT has it hands down.
No run off, and speeds over 200 mph and they will run in the rain. Even lowly CCS club racers will race motorcyles at Daytona in the rain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_8ofIf9CQk |

Tony Stewart is one helluva racer. He's fast in anything.
Back to the original post: the Car of Tomorrow with the new aero package. If it improves the racing, allowing closer drafting, I'm all for it. Although it is a pretty radical departure from the "stock car" look. |
So tell me....
The "car of tomorrow" is going to use the SAME body for all brands??? Ford, Dodge, Chevy and Toyota?? Thats just great, you can bearly tell them apart now and then thier going to a one body series. Wait isn't that IROC? They have leveled the game so much it is now a one car race. Next NASCAR will build the engines. Where is it heading? |
NASCAR might be headed to even closer racing? Time will tell.

It would be cheaper and safer if they just animated the whole thing and let the drivers use joysticks, that's what it's coming to. Waste of ******* money in my book and I think people that drive on the streets are starting to use bump drafting on the way to the office.
On the other hand, no doubt it is a huge business, seems very clean compared to other sports if you want to call it a sport and very patriotic. It's a marketing wonder and gettin bigger all the time. They seem to play by the rules, when someone fuchs up, they take some action to maintain the image, I give them high marks for that. Also when they are out on the track there is a good degree of safety involved and I would imagine some knowledge gained that can be used in other applications. More personal risk in NASCAR than stupid baseball and some other putt putt sports considering the salaries those *********s make. Guess I have too much time on Sunday AM. |
