Ken Lay - Dead
Breaking news. Died of a massive heart attack at his Colorado home. I hope it was brutally painful and took awhile to kill him.
 |
Damn too bad.. I wanted him to take it in the butt for a few years in prison.
|
Ken Lay did no more, in fact he did less, than our own government does on a daily basis. The only difference is the government and their media whores seem to be disinterested in their own accountability.
"The Enron case made headlines because fraud and deception of such magnitude is fairly unusual in the corporate world. Washington fraud and deception of a much greater magnitude doesn't make the headlines because fraud and deception in government is standard practice. That's what's so disgusting when politicians posture and demand that something be done to ensure honest corporate accounting practices." You say, "Williams, what are you talking about -- Washington fraud?" Suppose a company had run up debt that it wanted to conceal from its stockholders, lenders and the Security Exchange Commission (SEC). The CEO comes up with the accounting gimmick of transferring money from its employees' retirement account to the company's budget account. That way, when auditors come around, the books are balanced showing no debt. While the company's books are balanced, the company's debt has not disappeared. It still has debt. It's just owed to a different group of people: its employees. If a CEO commits this kind of fraud and deception, he should be summarily jailed. Washington politicians have for decades been doing precisely what Enron has been accused of doing -- concealing debt with accounting tricks. Congressmen tell us that our Social Security taxes go into a trust fund to pay for future retirement pensions. That is a boldface lie. The Social Security trust fund has no money in it. What Congress does with Social Security trust fund money is buy government bonds. The purchase of government bonds disguises the deficit by reducing the national debt." http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/williams041702.asp Like the proverbial frog in a pot of water, on simmer, we don't seem to mind that we are being boiled to death...but, hey, at least we have Ken Lay to kick around...whose next?..I am sure the politicians and the media will find someone to replace Ken Lay, to distract from themselves. |
|
I knew that you would be there to rationalize the theft of millions of working peoples' pensions. See? He wasn't so bad. The government does it everyday.
I have news for you: Kenny-boy, (as the president affectionately called him), did not replace the $$ w/ bonds. Or anything. He was one of the biggest thieves in the history of capitalism. The only bummer about his death is that it eliminates the chance of restitution or recovery of the loot he stole. He was lower than whale-schit on the bottom of the ocean. |
Linky no worky.
Try: http://news.yahoo.com/fc/business/enron Actually met him once. Seemed like a nice guy, and quite unassuming. Hard to believe that all that stuff was going on. I guess that's why they thought he might charm the jury. |
Im all for torture and cruel and unusual punishment if only it could be used on these white-colar scumbags. Even in death, Lay had to be an *******.

"He wasn't so bad. The government does it every day?"....Is that what you think I meant?...It, my friend, is folks like you that excuse and elect the frauds and thieves that make Ken Lay look like a child in the game of bilking the innocent. |
today marks a happy ending for the working families who got screwed by this white collar criminal.
|
Bummer. He got off easy.
Oh well, one scumbag out of the way, another several thousand (in business and politics both) to go. |
May the devil do bad things to the scumbag.....all day, everyday!

call me a conspiracy nut, but does anybody else here suspect foul play?
|
You are a conspiracy nut
|
Conspiracy? Na.
Foul play? Na. My guess is he cleverly faked his death and is now living in Rio. |
Mul (or whomever he is quoting today) is undoubtably right that the gov. does play with the books but geesh, what would you have the government do with the money it recieves for SS, put it under the matress (earning 0% interest)?
What would you do if your mom told you to invest her retirement in the most secure, least risky investment? Do you think your mom, upon discovering that you've invested her retirement in US bonds, is going to say "OMG, you filled my retirement "lock box" with IOU's!" ? -Chris |

don't get me wrong... I'm not making any accusations, but I'm not gonna rule it out with certainty either... |

"Earning 0% interest?"...Please explain to me how the supposed "social security trust fund" (which does not exist) is earning interest? |
I want to see the body and think we need DNA testing to confirm. My guess is not Rio but the BVI's at his palatial estate there.
You could have predicted this and GWB obviously said the political mood was too hot to kick him free  |
If you're angry with the behavior of Ken Lay et al, you should be that times 100 with the federal government. Compared to the federal government, and many state and local governments as well, Ken Lay was a rank amateur.
In addition to his much lower level of corruption than the federal government, he didn't use violence or the threat of violence to do wrong, the federal government uses violence every day, right here in America, to force it's thefts of private property. The outpouring of vile wishes upon Mr. Lay is rather obscene, if people lost money via his operations, it was their own fault. |
