We may need a little more that special ops.

From Yahoonews:

"The reported launch came after weeks of speculation that the North was preparing to test its advanced Taepodong 2 missile from a site on its northeast coast. Experts believe a Taepodong 2 could reach the United States with a light payload.

The prepartions had generated stern warnings from the United States and Japan, which had threatened possible economic sanctions in response.

Temperatures further heightened Monday when the North's main news agency quoted an unidentified newspaper analyst as saying Pyongyang was prepared to answer a U.S. military attack with "a relentless annihilating strike and a nuclear war."

The Bush administration responded by saying while it had no intention of attacking, it was determined to protect the United States if North Korea launched a long-range missile.

"Should North Korea take the provocative action of launching a missile the U.S. would respond appropriately, including by taking the necessary measures to protect ourselves," State Department spokeswoman Julie Reside said."

Now where did I put that SPF 9000 sunblock?

seriously, what's the big deal? North Korea is a small country. They have every right to test a missile just like the US is testing their missiles in Iraq.

North Korea knows very well if they ever attacked the US, they will be wiped off the face of the earth in about 5 business days.

don't see why the GW admin. has their panties in a bind....

Funny, we invaded Iraq on the BULL***** notion that there were WMD present. An evil dictator launches missile on the 4th of July, an obvious provocation, and its no big deal?

UNFARKING BELIEVABLE.

You have to pull up pretty big hip boots to sling W's bull*****, but to see people tap dance in them, well thats down right impressive.

Bushy is just hoping that the clock runs out on his administration before either (1) being indicted or impeached, (2) another terrorist attack, (3) the coming implosion of the U.S. economy or (4) war with Iran, North Korea or China.

In the same way that the pro-Bush loonies on here blame everything on Clinton ("oh, Clinton didn't do anything about Bin Laden either, so it's HIS fault"), the anti-Bush types will be able to point to HIM in the next administration saying "how come Bush didn't do anything meaningful to prevent XXXXX".

The sword cuts both ways. And people have a retarded attention span / memory.

Joe, Mull, Finstone you guys really think this is OK? You guys all live on the westcoast or SW, you don't feel that Bush has sold you out at all? The guy has put you and your familys in peril while pursuing the snipe hunt in Iraq.

So now you guys want us to head to N. Korea and take care of another of the worlds problems? Personally I would love to drop a few Mk.82's on the bastards but they might not like that.

Word now is that they launched three missles, two short range and one long. The two shorts worked fine and the long range failed. NORAD was on alert and I wonder if the "failure" was not out of our "anti-missle" programs doing its job??

Where is the UN in this mix? Why arent they helping here? Why does America always have to be the worlds policeman? Sold out? No, not at all and we are and have been in peril for many years before 9/11, from people around the world who are jealous of our way of life and prosperity.

"It should make people nervous when nontransparent regimes, that have announced that they've got nuclear warheads, fire missiles," Bush said. "This is not the way you conduct business in the world. This is not the way that peaceful nations conduct their affairs."

he's got that right - peaceful nations conduct their affairs by using premeditated WMD fears to invade countries for their own political/personal motives.

what a dumba$$

They test launched a missle.
They didn't point it at US.
We do the exact same thing all the time, every time we develop new technology.

So if I understand you guys right, you think bush should nuke every country that tests new missle technology?
You all need a nap.

If they did launch one in our direction it wouldn't make it past half way.
I know that for certain. Someone I know very well spent his entire career developing weapons, specializing in anti-aircraft and anti-missle missles.
We have stuff that will do the job without a doubt, we just don't want the entire world to know the extent of what we have so we dummy it down and pretend it isn't as good as it is.
Most of the stuff they actually show everyone is nearing obsolescence. It aint the good stuff.
Thse patriot missles we used in 1991? Developed during the vietnam war, we were just using them up so we didn't have to spend money to dispose of them. I knew about those weapons when i was still in junior high.
For most of my life he's been telling me about buck rogers type weapons that I couldn't believe existed, only to see them actually used 15 years later. He never gave me enough details to get into trouble, just enough to get the general idea.
One thing for sure, we have an anti-missle defense system that can fill the skies. Anything that north korea can send up we can knock down.
The only real question would be is it worth divulging our latest and greatest just to knock down a test missle? i don't think so.

A North Korean missile got by the anti-missile defense system and pricked the US housing bubble.

Iraq weapons of mass destruction, if had, could not reach US soil if tried. North Korea 99% have WMD and CAN reach US soil, ah well more pretty fireworks in Bushs' mind. Something very wrong on this scale.....Defend all you want, your leader is a moron.

He knew about it a lot sooner than you, or anyone else did. If he is so dumb like you say he is, then why arent you in the White House?

Trust me, the military is available if needed. I can guarantee you that we have several nuke subs with a targeting solution of N. Korea out there waiting for the launch order. N. Korea knows this and is not going to commit suicide...

Just spent the weekend with an old high school friend. He was on a nuke sub for most of his life and we had some very interesting discussions about N. Korea.
