How to arrange an out-of-state sale?
Pretty sure the SC is sold as of next Sat. Buyer is coming from New Engand with a trailer late Fri. night. He wants to see the car Sat. morning, pay and tow her home. Are bank checks safe nowadays? I assume a wire transfer would take longer than we could wait around, if even possible on a Sat. How do we do this?

I believe a bank check should be good as long as it is embossed with the correct amount. I will be doing this myself in the next week or so. I am in the process of talking to my bank to find out any possibility for forgery of a bank check and what I should look for to ensure check is good. I'll be following this thread, good question and good luck!

Wayne, does you mean you would not trust a check from a non-national bank?
|
Cash. or cash from the bank is even better. Try to bring as many people as he does to the bank. Go straight to your bank and deposit.
|
Why bring more people to the bank? My bank has a branch right by my house and I almost always carry a .45 anywhere I go in VA. Not worried about personal security. I'm worried about a bad check.

can you trade for crack and hookers instead? Depending on the exchange rate you might make out better, and its safer than a cashier's check.

About the only check I would trust these days is from my Lawyer's trust account.
He could wire money to your lawyer's trust account ahead of time, to be disbursed if the transaction takes place, or returned if not. |
Wire transefer.
The guy should inspect the car prior to the sale . Why not a PPI before he arrives? I had a PPI done, I saw a ton of pictures, and the mechanic that inspected the car geve me a verbal and written pinion of the car. I wire transfered the money in the sellers account 24 hours prior to my arrival the pich up the car. The mechanic held the car in his shop. The Title was overnighted to me, when I recieved a tracking number I wire transfered. A bank check these days is risky at best. |
