David,
Are you on Jag-lovers? www.jag-lovers.org http://forums.jag-lovers.org/index.php3?zx=SdAHzxPwzKPOC706QMnO%2F0j8FkGT2g9C%2 FP8x0dkDD846B5uW%2BAnPC%2F7WnswK0BJIn5%2FHBMoR%2F9 6cyQLHCQCYx7gN Adverts are here: http://jagads.jag-lovers.org/ Did not see any parts for the new S-type listed there but its good to keep an eye there. http://www.jaggraveyard.com/ http://jagsource.org http://www.jagtalk.com/forums/1/index.html Love the S-Type. Just did 3000 miles in mine last weekend and not a hiccup. Do you have the V8 or V6? GPS? Edit, Coventry West in Atlanta is one of the best sources for used parts on the net. Sometimes they have a wrecked S-Type in there... http://www.coventrywest.com/ Ask for Greg, very good guy to work with and tell him I sent you.

I wish this were my car. My son was riding his bike and crashed into a Jaguar parked on the street. The driver side mirror was damaged (the rear housing dome). I am doing the right thing and paying for the damage. The dealer wants close to $900 for this mirror. I know there has to be a good used one out there somewhere.
Of all the cars to crash into, my son picked the 2005 S type supercharged Jaguar with paper plates! Just unlucky I guess. Thanks for the help, David

Call Gregory at Coventry West in Atlanta. Tell him I sent you and to see what he can do. I have emailed him about it already. Joe

If you PM or email me your direct email will pass it along to him. Sometimes he checks his company email on the weekends.

Thank you Moses. If this is the correct one (I cannot find out until Monday when the dealership opens), I'll buy it.
Thanks again, David

I love this car.
Jaguar succeeded in making this car so understated. From a distance it looks great, but the closer you get the more you see just how sexy it is. Great lines, luxury all over the place. Most car designs show all their cards right from the start and all the mystery is gone after the first glance. Not this one. Its a lady among girls.

This is easy. Just find an identical jaguar and follow it around. Chances are the mirror will fall off the car in a week or two and you jst have to stop and pick it up. Just make sure you have roadside assistance in case you get a flat tire from all the other stuff that will fall off the jag.
What a POS. can you tell I've had bad experiences with jags? Years ago my brother bought one even though I insisted he didn't after the problems I had with one. His front licence plate holder fell off and the window switch broke on the way home from the dealer. The car went back to that dealer at least 10 times. The transmission went out at 60,000 and the rest of the car was in such bad shape he called the junk yard and had it towed away. 4 years old, never in a wreck, totalled because of poor engineering, design and craftsmanship. and don't tell me all that is changed now that they are owned by ford, I won't drive a ford. 3rd biggest POS on the planet after land rover and jaguar. Yes, jags are beautiul, but nothing I can think of looses value as fast. Last edited by sammyg2; 07-09-2006 at 08:00 AM.. |

Guess I should not tell you about my 1994 and 1997 XJ that were done after Ford bought them that was as reliable as the day was long. Just did 3000 miles in four days in my 2000 S-Type. Not a hiccup on the trip and have had one thing, a window regulator, fail on the car since I bought it 3 years ago. Taking it tomorrow to San Diego then returning later on in the week. The car drives a lot when I am in town and nary a problem. Your experiences with Jaguar are not the same as many other people. Some of the mid to late 80's and early 90 models were not very good but to harpoon the entire car company because of your experiences is a bit much IMHO. I know of one XJ that was a wonderful car for 3 years. Then the female owner took it to the dealer because "it was making noise in the front." Turns out that she had never checked anything under the hood after the break in inspection and the engine oil had turned to sludge in our Arizona heat, ruining everything. Lots of women and idiots own these cars and expect them to run like a Chevy or Ford truck, which they will not. If they are taken care of from day one, they are just as good if not better than any other car. If they are not taken care of they are an expensive stone around the idiot owners neck. Glad you are happy with a 911.

Joe, good for you. I am glad you have had good experiences with Jaguars.
Unfortunately I have not. My brother has not. My ex-boss has not. My neighbor 4 houses down has not. In fact, every person I know who has had a jaguar has had extremely bad experiences. . All of them curse the brand as I do and swear they will never own another, as I do. Of course there are some good jaguars out there and of course there are some satisfied owners. They are just not part of the group I am familiar with. The only exception to this was my father who owned a jag in the 50's. He did say it was a POS and would break down on a weekly basis, but he absolutely loved driving the car and would like to own another early 50's jag, if he could afford it. |
