I regularly give out perscriptions for more sex :D

Not only is it good from your cardio vascular, its good for your back muscles and depending on positions, good for your abs plus in 24 yrs, have never had anyone come back to the office and tell me I'm crazy :p

Don't complicate life, KISS....keep it simple stupid ;)

Get a pair of knee pads, and your knees will thank you. I used to have the same knee pain, and since I started using knee pads my knees are fine after a full day of wrenching. The knee pads will become your most used tool.

We're not talking about work here...

Never mind the burnt calories - the paramount effect here is being able to do more Porsche wrenching! :D

ronin, to hit the abdominal muscles efficiently you donīt have to lift the whole upper body from the floor which also puts much more stress on your back. Its sufficient to roll up head and shoulders, keeping your lower back on the floor. The important part, like with all muscle training, is to focus mentally on the muscle your are training. Isolating and trying to 'find' precisely that muscle or group of muscles.

ronin, another thing to try are the "upright" set ups at gyms. Basically, you hoist yourself up onto the arm bar things, leaving your legs free below. You bring your legs up to your waist for each rep.

Don't know if that would be better or worse for your situation, but it is different.

Being I have a bulging disk between my pelvis and my L-1 sit ups are doable but touch and go at best.

I picked up one of these and most gyms have them already in their Ab area.

Its an Iso Ball and will come with instructions for tons of exercises that will help keep you back in tact.

Also it can be added to your bedroom. We found some fun uses for it. ;)

I highly recommend Everett Aaberg's book Muscle Mechanics. It's like Waynes 101 book, but for resistance training.

Knee pads no, elbow pads definitely no!

yup, that's the ball of which I spoke. it is awesome for ab exercises. the only problem is storage. maybe I can figure something out

fun uses in the bedroom, eh? with my luck I'd just slide off and crash into the wall or something. kinda like silk sheets ;)

that's actually one of the better things I've done. lol, I've actually even done that on escalators, holding myself up until I either get to the top or bottom. it feels good when the spine gets a chance to stretch out a bit. only problem is that I don't have much time to go to the gym these days. keep the suggestions coming. I appreciate them all

Weigh about 170 and burn 550 cal on the tradmill going uphill the whole time about 4 times a week...keeps me trim and svelte

The exercise your stomach gets from hard breathing is much better exercise than sit ups.
Sounds like it's time to take the car for a drive!
