Question Has anyone heard of these folks: Bankers Life and Casualty

I'm searching for a job within 80 miles of Texarkana and was contacted by Bankers Life and Casualty to go into their "management programme". Sounds too fishy to me, but I thought I'd approach the Brain Trust and see what yall think. They seem to want sales people and branch managers though I have only limited sales experience and none in the insurance/annuity line of work. I'm a Supply Chain type of person!

Ahhh well.... Thanks in advance!!!

David,

If they contacted you, I'd be very suspicious and assume it's an "Amway" kind of thing. You should be the one contacting them, if it's a good job with a good company...

Looks to be similar to a company a bud ran into lately.

He racked up alot of debt and in the process of negotiating/consolidating was contacted by a lender who offered to advise him for free. They also offered him a carreer in selling insurance, equity loans etc if he went to their training and gained certification. I thonk he would have to commit a certain amount of time to them as well.

He went for it but in several months has not done much other than shadow his "mentor". Does seem legit but in an Am-kind-of-way.

David, don't know your exact line of work, but if you're looking in an 80 mile radius, you might check out the Shreveport/Bossier City area as well. As far as Banker's Life, yeah they've been around for a long time in this area. Did not know they had "headhunters" though.

Yep,

I've actually applied for five different positions in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. I was stationed at Barksdale for a few years ('88-'92) so I am aware of some of the area.

Well, I figured if nothing else Banker's Life will be good phone practice so I've agreed to talk to them. Don't expect much out of that. Most of my eggs are still in the manufacturing basket...
