I am an addict but couldn't bear my way through watching Season 5 on TV. I am waiting for the DVDs to come out. I had a couple marathon weekends but Blockbuster just got too expensive so I went and bought 1-3 so I didn't have to keep going back and forth to rent. For Season 4, I rented from Netflix but even that was a pain having to wait 2 days for the next disc.

We are working our way through season 3 right now, Netflix rules.

My wife watched seasons 1 and 2 in about 5 days (she is a stay at home mom) and now we are watching season 3 together. We watched season 5 this year and I had seen 1 and 2 previously.

Best show on TV, Lost was awesome in season 1 but this season got a bit too wierd...still my #2 favorite show though behind 24.

I love 24, but I think Deadwood is the best thing on TV. Ian McShane's acting is incredible and the dialogue is magnificent. Despite the casual vugarity (and there is a LOT of it), the charachters speak in an elegant prose that's great to hear.

I tried to watch Deadwood and couldn't get past all the cursing. Do you really need to have every 3rd word be a vulgarity?

I had the same initial reaction. My wife couldn't believe I was watching it. She's hooked now, too.

I guess the language is pretty accurate for a Black Hills mining town.

I suggest you rent season 1 and start from the beginning.

Rick, you and I are in total agreement. My ex loved Deadwood, but I just couldn't watch it. And actually I do not believe that every other word was f*ck at that time and place of history. Seems they just wanted to push the envelope to be "edgy."

Maybe when I'm done with 24, but I don't really want another tv show to watch...

haha... i just picked up last dvd of first season of "deadwood".... every now and then you need a good western

The last few HBO series have been disappointing. I watched about 2 episodes of season 1 of Deadwood and gave it up. Too much cursing. Tried to get through one episode of Big Love and couldn't do it. We even watched the whole season of Carnivale (which was a very freaky show, BTW). We canceled our HBO subscription after the last episode of the Sopranos. Will probably get it back this winter for the Sopranos final episodes, but other than that the famed HBO series is pretty dismal these days.

I liked Carnivale, but I think I'm going to cancel my HBO too until Sopranos starts up again. The only reason I started it back up was to watch Sopranos anyway...

With DVD (and ITMS), do you really need HBO anyway? The only price you pay is not being the first to see the episodes...

Gave up on 24 after a couple of seasons, Bauer's daughter was getting into too many situations to be any where near believable. Got back into it this season. Really good.

Carnivale was bizarre, but quite good. HBO killed it.

Started watching Deadwood this season. I was surprised by the amount of times the F word is used. I thought I heard it has been cancelled. Anyone else hear that? No use getting into it now if it's over.

i have heard that this may be the last roundup for deadwood. also heard of a possible two 2 hour movies to boot.

Yep, so I hear the same thing. Too much just the same.

Agreed. Last nights episode was great, but my wife noted that they could drop 90% of the obscenity and still be "edgy". The script is beautifully written, but the vulgarity is a distraction.

It is hard to underestimate the impact of season 1, episode 1 - where terrorists blew up an airliner to steal an identity. It played just a few weeks after Sept. 11th. It was good to see someone on our side fighting back against such tactics.....that's where the loyalty to that show began.

Totally agree, but apparently Kim's antics spawned an entirely new generation of drinking games a la "Hi Bob"...
