Jeff Gordon cost me $90

Lap 264, 3 laps to go, Matt Kenseth, whom I had some money on, had been leading the race since lap 140, (minus the general sorting-out surrounding pit stops). Victory, and $90, were all but assured. Jeff Gordon, who was in 2nd, decided to spin Kenseth out so that he could take the lead. Dirty stinking cheater.

The kicker? We overheard Gordon on the radio say he was going to spin Kenseth out about 10 laps earlier…

I think it's retaliation because Matt did the same thing to Jeff in some other race earlier. That's what I heard on the hightlights anyway. I really don't follow NASCAR but they both seem like very poor competitors if they'll both go that low. I used to think Jeff was an alright guy but this sort of thing really destroys my image of him.

NASCAR fined Gordon and put him on probation for the earlier incident. Seems to indicate that he was at-fault for that too.

In the same highlights that I saw, Matt did intentionally spin Jeff out but Jeff got fined because he pushed Matt when Matt when to apologize after the race.

I didn't know all of the story at Bristol--but it still seems that Matt is a classier guy than Jeff.

On the way out of the track last night I saw a lot of inside out t-shirts and hats tucked under people's arms. They were Jeff Gordon fans hiding his name/number.

I've seen Jeff Gordan out on public roads - he didn't spin anyone out. He does have a nice 430 Spyder...

Wouldn't this sort of activity land you in the slammer for road rage on any street in the USA? Why is it "permissible" on the NASCAR track?

I think BlueSkyJaunte is simply referring to the unsportsmanlike conduct.

I don't watch NASCAR. I go to a few races a year to catch up with some college friends.

No doubt that it was.

But his example was that we don't tolerate that behavior on the street, so why should we on the track? I pointed out that we tolerate a lot of behavior in sporting events that wouldn't be tolerated in greater society.

This is racing and winners go all out. If this happened mid -pack nobody would care.

Do your really watch NASCAR to see all the cars go round and round.

You're a whiner, all the guys in second place think about the same thing.
