Grand Am Crash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxnzhtjfm50&search=grand%20am%20crash
This is from a couple weeks ago, at Mid Ohio. The good news is that the driver is fine. The other good news is that this gave a Porsche the class victory! |
SJOT - why would they put a launching ramp on the track?
|
Mid-Ohio added a turn-off there I think for different track configurations, I think a small oval track, when they did the re-surfacing. They obviously didn't think it through very well. It's impressive the way the 'GTO' went for a 'win at all costs' low percentage move. Reminds me of the crap the GM teams pulled at the end of the Speed World Challenge season last year to assure Cadillac the points championship.
|
The track is in trouble because they re-graded that area for drainage and did not notify drivers. It was still listed on the course maps as a safe run out area for emergency bailout. From what I've heard, at least.

horrific to watch - glad he's "okay"...

The NASCAR-ization of sports car racing continues...

A bunch of us have been writing in to the track management calling for regrading that area. That section is raised up to meet the access road there.
We're running there for NASA Nationals this year and I'm hoping it's gone before we get there. Think of the cost had that been an amateur driver! I know it would be the end of my racing for the year (or more!) |
