Towable hovercraft anyone?
http://www.sevylor.com/manta/index.html
This freakin' thing is a blast. For like $350 you have a raft that flys!!!...When you get up in the air it is fun as a mofo, just like a flying dream. If and when you hit some turbulence all hell brakes loose, and if you cannot save it you skip across the water like a thrown rock...ouch, double-ouch...Once you get the hang it is exhilarating. We had everyone in the vicinity stopping their boats, and all they were doing, to applaud this floatation device that makes heros of mere mortals. |
The corps of engineers have banned them on waters in Missouri and Arkansas. Couple of people have died and a number of injuries. But it does look like fun.

One of the girls that works for us just got one 4th of July weekend and claims that it is a blast, but scary when it starts to sway. She also said that the bigger guys in her group had trouble getting aloft, but at 97 pounds, she took flight quickly.

ROFL, did you see the disclaimer "never fly higher than you are willing to fall" ;)

They look like fun. The first one that I ever saw wasn't designed for flying, it was just a huge tube with a flat bottom. It flew, but wasnt' very stable. When that guy fell he fell hard.
Haven't there been broken arms and necks from these things? |
guy at work broke his neck two weeks ago while flying one of those things. Claims a gust of wind got him.
Docs claim he was 1mm away from being paralyzed or in a box |
This thing sounds like a great tool for thinning the herd.
