When I mentioned to my wife I was thinking about getting a .500 WE she actually dropped here face into her hands and looked sick. I asked "what?" and she said, "its just a testosterone thing." Yep. It is. I like the challenge of mastering hard things (like restoring old Porsches) or shooting big guns. Chasing deer and elk. They are hard, therefore I do them. I got a big jazz out of taking that buck last year with this gun. I was totally stoked.

We'll see if anything comes of my desire for a .50. Regardless, I've got the load for the 454, now I just need to shoot, alot...

now for the bummer side of big bore pistols.............read any mag article from the older guys from the 50's who have shot a lot of big bores over their writing career, and all will atest to some kind of damage. hand/ wrist. ie. carpal tunnel symptoms. shooting hot handloads even with a glove is not good, if you do it alot. i have learned after many years of dezert racing abuse, to take care of my body as i get older. i use light loads for range use, and hot ones for hunting. if it hurts...........dont do it! but to be honest........there is nothing better than going to range with s&w model 629 stainless w/dual magna-porting and watch the benches clear away as you proceed to scare the hell out of the paper target with the noise and flame. one of these days we will try and get a night shot w/camera of that damn thing lighting off!

I found this Freedom Arms Model 83 in 22 LR NIB at a Little Johns Auction. It has a Redfield Scope, Leupold Scope Mount and Extra 22 mag cylinder. all for $800 out the Gun Shop Door. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1153315835.jpg

Man Tabs! That was a good buy. Now if you could find a buy like that for a 7.5" .500 Wyoming Express, I'd buy if from you.

An Even Better Buy

I had to receive the Freedom Arms through a local FFL Dealer. While I was doing the paper work on the FA the Dealer pulled out this Baby...(a Colt 1911A1 US Military with the Brushed Blue Finish...they made roughly 15000 of these from 1924 to 1941, in mid 41 they started to Parkerize them. This one is roughly 97% )

I asked him how much? He replied $2000, so I bought it...One made in 1924 just sold for $5700 at auction. I was offered $4000 for it by a dealer 3 weeks later, OP was with me at the time.
