Just quit my job...
Remember this thread?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/288299-contemplating-another-career-change.html?highlight=career Well, I got the formal offer letter last night and gave my two wks. notice this morning. New job will give me a 3 month guarantee equal to my current base salary and my buddy says I'll definitely be pulling commissions in before that runs out. After the 3rd month I get a $1000 per month salary, not draw. It's gonna be exciting for a while. My boss took my notice pretty well. It's gonna mean a lot more headaches for him, but that's why they pay him the big bucks. He asked if there was anything he could do to keep me. I said it wasn't just about money and I really wanted to do this. So he said the door was always open to come back if the new job didn't work out. New chapter of life will begin very soon. |
Rick,
Good luck in your new career! It's always good not to "burn bridges"... sounds like you did it right! |
Good luck
|
congrats, rick! :)

Do you have to relocate, or will you remain in Virginia?
|
Pat, best part of the new job is that it will be mainly in VA, so I can CCW!!!! I just have to survive two more weeks of taking the Metro into DC and then I'll be working from home and hitting accounts in a few places near my house in VA. I can't believe the Metro hasn't been hit by a suicide bomber yet and my office is two blocks from the WH. DC crime is back to about a murder a day, which is hard to believe since no one can have guns here, right? I look forward to being able to load some guns into my trunk on the way to visit accounts and then stop by the range on the way home.

Go for it Rick. You are at a good age in life to make a change and hope you get rich with this one!

Sounds good. DC has been in the top five for murders in America for decades I think, usually vying with Gary, Indiana for top spot. The only problem is that the killers are shooting the wrong people (usually <G>).
I'm still waiting on my CCW from the state, should be here any day now. Then I'll have to decide on how to carry in hot weather. My new part time job starts this Saturday, same as the old job in a new place, and they have posted the required "No Concealed Weapons" signs on every door. So, any weapon must remain in my car. That's legal here, even without a CCW. Good hunting in your new job when it starts. |
wow. good news! congrats rl.

Congrats and best of luck!
|
Congrats man! Best of luck with the new career!
Fortune favors the bold - kudos for having the stones to do it! |
Go for it Rick!! That's great news. I'm kinda at a similar turning point in my life right now....
|
Oh, and with the sale of my SC, I decided to treat myself to one last toy before I have to tighten the belt until commissions start coming in.

Rock on, Rick! First the SC sale, then the new gun, then this. Have a big steak and get you sum tonight! ;)

In the summer I carry either a PPK in an ankle holster (I usually wear trousers) or a Detonics Pocket Nine in a custom inside the pocket holster. Of course, I live in Western Washington, so while everyone else is in the throes of a heat wave, I remember to bring a light jacket for the cool evenings. Much easier to not look out of place here.
