Indeed...I come from a fatherless household. The repurcussions can last all one's life. Anger, distrust, depression, criminality, drugs, promiscuity often plague the children of broken promises.

Offend them, they need it...Society needs to be embarrassed into responsibility.

At what time of day have the murders occured and where? as in break in at house or out on the corner?

A majority of your inner city murders here are out on the street in the middle of the night when most productive citizens are sleeping or on the internet. ;)

Down here is Florida its usually a gang turf war or drug deal gone bad. There is the occasional, she wouldn't let me take her scooter for a ride so I shot her, stupidity too.

try living with our serial killer! we have nicknamed him the capn krunch killer! has phx in a panic. its like a clint eastwood "make my day" made for TV movie! has attacked 30 some odd people and killed like 6! what the hell is going on! gun stores are selling guns like no tommorow. all you hear on the news is serial killer serial killer serial killer over and over like a broken record! i guess it comes from gaining the exalted position of 5th largest city in the U.S.!

Seria killers make good news = good ratings = sells papers. He is a dream come true for your local media.

every year here is bad with drownings. your right on the media..........they just love it! im a native and this is a first with the cereal killer thing. seems like the media just cant leave this one alone. radio or tv is smothered with it. the guy is more than likely bailed out of here and is on his way to another city. you know its real bad when psychics are consulted and then quoted hour by hour day by day!

Actually if he is a real serial killer he is LOVING the media attention and is still in town watching all the hype. They are feeding him and he will probably kill again when the hype starts to die off.

I think there might be a grain of truth when it's said that they milk it for all it's worth. There's no sense in trying to sugar-coat it - they'll keep spooning it out.

we're already up to 38 or 39 in little rock this year..a metro area of only 500,000. we didn't have nearly that many all last year..what's going on??

Combination heat and illegals. No consequences for anything they get caught for, so why not.

I recall seeing a study about African Elephants where adolescent elephants were terrorizing a specific region of the country. It was concluded that these "teen" elephants were deprived of "social behaviors" due to the loss of elder males from poachers and natural causes. Once the "teen" elephants were transplanted into a region with elder males who "socialized" the "teens" they became more social and less of a menace to the area.
It may be a bit of a stretch to relate this study to humans but I think there is a lot to say for the results of the study. I know my father had a great influence on my behavior and activities in my teen years.

You're right, procon. People who make the small town or rural setting their home should thank their lucky stars. A lot of folks expect crime to just disappear magically. Delicious thought, but it will never happen.

Yes, but according to the local paper meth labs are in every neighborhood and crime is at an all time high thanks to said meth heads.

I got to talk to one of my new neighbors at the bottom of the mountain. I asked him if he is afraid of crime in NC and he, being from the DC area, said hell no! But, he added that the neighbor across the way from him was warning him about all the meth labs and crime. The neighbor between us has an alarm system in his house. I do not lock my doors there!!

I think your search results came up with the real picture. Its a nice southern town with little to no crime. Its too bad the local paper cannot celebrate that rather than try to scare the hell out of everyone so the local sheriff can get re-elected.

Well, in your nation's capital, where private gun ownership is banned, we're back to about one murder a day in this small town of 583,000.
