Anyone take the Series 7 exam recently?

If so, how did you prep for the test?

I took it in 1986 back when it was given in a classroom with a proctor and you wrote the answers in a book. The best way to study then was read, memorize and take lots of practice tests.

I'll second the importance of the practice tests. Try to zip though the reading and focus on practice.

Good luck.

My son just took it. Aced it. He scored the highest in his group. He basically locked himself in his room for a few months, studied and took practice tests over and over.

I took the Series 7 & 63 about 3 years ago. Get the book w/ the CD-Roms. Read the book and take the practice exams.

The place I work also sends everyone to a week-long classroom training session for the Series 7. That is where the material suddenly "clicked" and made perfect sense to me. I can only learn so much from books. I just need to see someone work through some of the concepts and math equations.

The Dearborn practice tests on CD-ROM I took over and over; there was a practice mode of sorts that told you instantly if your answer was correct, and why or why not. The interface even mimics the setup of how the questions look on the test machine.

I scored 94%.

I will tell you one thing, you can not cram for that test. It covers too much material. Nothing is particularly difficult, but the test covers a ton of material. One of the benefits of the practice tests is also getting used to the test format, Good Luck.
